Multilingual airport security officer provides vital passenger assistance at Suvarnabhumi Airport

An airport security officer at Suvarnabhumi Airport, who has the impressive ability to speak five languages, has come to the public’s attention.

 

The officer, Yanaphop Boonthem, 55 years old, speaks Thai, Japanese, Chinese, English, and Korean. Despite his primary role being airport security, his multilingual skills have proven to be extremely valuable in guiding and assisting passengers with airport services.

 

The story came to light when TikTok user wit494497 posted a clip of Yanaphop communicating effortlessly with passengers in multiple languages. This unexpected skill set, held by a security officer, has intrigued many. Yanaphop’s fluency in five languages enables him to provide correct guidance and advice about the various services at the airport.

This story was reported at 7pm yesterday when a journalist visited the international departure lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport to meet Yanaphop. He can be found stationed at the entrance of the international departure terminal, gate three.

So you only speak some "street Thai" as there's no way to avoid learning the Thai script if you ever want to speak it properly.

there are many countries who's language not many can speak, so they need to speak other languages. in my school we learned 4 languages already and I learned 2 on top of that, so that makes the total to 6!

because I live here many many years, don't go abroad asmuch as before so some languages get a bit rusty! ????

of course here it's a miracle when someone speaks other languages than Thai, but to me that's very normal!

I speak 12 languages but I have forgotten most of them.
