So some expats pay to be loved and have someone care for them?

of course, most of them, the girlfriend otherwise known as employee follows them around

There is website for those interested.

Unfortunately there seems to be no real help for expats in Thailand suffering from depression and why so many a year jump to their deaths sadly

That’s not the full story with ‘pets’. Animals can love you if you are kind to them, even without feeding them.
This isn’t just a theory. I’ve experienced this over many years. Even the animals I do feed are usually more interested in wallowing in the attention. Food is secondary, believe it or not.

Strangely you say that ,more & more expats I meet have dogs particularly over the dark side that live by themselves

I can't do much about being old, except try to maintain quality of life via diet and exercise.

I am happy with my own company, so I don't feel lonely.

IMO loneliness is a choice, unless one is a total misanthropist there will always be people with similar interests to talk to.

Is there such word as misanthropist? ????

Why strange? It’s normal for people who have settled in one place.
