Does a home stereo need to be covered in flashing disco lights? Little kids love this kinda stuff, and that includes dressing up.

And I suppose you assume the joke was truly straight? That the head of one of the largest pyramid schemes ever, just said no thank you. I don't want the hundreds of millions of baht. Give it to someone else. I am the only honest one.

I don't want sound to negative and/or pessimist but DNA here is all corrupted, it's on Thai people blood thus without accusing the man, all bets are off/on  555

The search warrant police used to raid his house mentioned only the number of the house, not the name of the owner.

why the search warrant has to have a name, what if the house title was not in his name, that's a lame excuse, as smart as he appears to be he couldn't come up with a better one

At least it's visable, and quite a comedy show, but every country in the world is corrupt as hell these days, the USA sticks out a mile, Britain, NZ, Australia, very corrupt, NZ is a land of thieves, people are being robbed by big and small bussines, Gangs are running havoc, children are ramming cars through shops and robbing every night, and shootings are now daily.

This has all escalated since the pandemic, and people can't afford to pay their bills now since the war in Ukraine started.

Corporations are taking advantage of this and fleecing everyone.

And what does the corrupt politicians do?

Nothing, but appoint a goon to look into it, pay the goon big money, and nothing happens, this is the world today, but I still prefer Thailand to live, I don't like NZ anymore, and as a celeb who left a few weeks ago said on channel 3 news, I wouldn't like to get sick in NZ, the health system is seriously broken, so Thailand's not to bad.

Yep agree on this...definitely gone downhill (but as mentioned a lot of countries have the same type of problems).

Lawfare at it's third-world finest.
The use of the legal and judicial systems to go after political enemies.

Hope BJ is squeaky-clean, not that it matters.

I always thought that Prayuth was BJ's protector. Early on, I wondered where he stood with the new crowd and what would happen with Prayuth gone. Apparently, now we know.

How can they afford their high end cars, BMW's, Mercs etc on just a govt, salary ?

Even in the west  a police officer at the same level, earning honestly more, will not be able to such extravagance ?

Why not just pull over each police coppers house in Bangkok or in provinces,

If the house or his cars go beyond what is expected within the financial meany, tjust ake the chap in the police station and ask him/her to explain and show justification of where the cash comes from. Very obvious.

Of course it will never happen after a certain level of top brass. Corruption all over to the highest level.

Someone asked how he could afford to buy 6 houses for his mates, well I don't know, but Rolexs would have been cheaper.

Hoping he's the next national chief cop.

He has quite a while to go before retirement, if he's really genuine to stop corruption he'll need time.

He doesn't seem to be afraid of the other senior cops.

Some of his team involved in gambling corruption not good news but inevitable. And a chance for BJ to show his strength.

Since it is impossible to rise up in the ranks of the force without "Tea Money" he has spent most of his career involved directly with corruption - what on earth makes you think he is genuine about stopping corruption?

if somebody is constantly in a limelight, he/she should make sure there are no skeletons somewhere, being daily in limelight brings a lot of attention and scrutiny

CCIB officers attempted to raid five houses owned by Big Joke in Soi Vibhawadee 60 near the Police Sports Club in Bangkok’s Lak Si district at 8am today. One of the houses is Big Joke’s home while the other four provide accommodation for members of his team.

I know he's a high ranking RTP exec, but it seems more than a bit odd that he's got 4 other houses he owns beyond his own that he's supposedly using to provide housing for members of his "team"???

One might ask, how's BJ earning enough money to buy and own 5 houses in Bangkok... And are the other officers getting to live in his houses for free or are they paying rent to him for the accommodations?

But somebody might have a gun! I presume that there were a few Police involved in the gambling set up as BJ was involved?

AFAIK, BJ just got passed over for promotion to be the top national police chief. I believe he was among four finalists, but wasn't selected.

Perhaps the chosen winner is now trying to clean up some loose ends with his former rivals.

Again, more than a bit peculiar that the raid and investigation of all this bursts into public view just after BJ loses out on the top police job.

Some have portrayed BJ as some kind of anti-corruption hero... I don't buy that at all, and never have.

IMHO, you can't rise to the top ranks of the RTP, as he and the others have, without being complicit in who knows what kind of ongoing shennanigans across the entire force...

My read is, it's not about corruption vs anti-corruption. It's about who gets to run the show and who will control where the monies go and who benefits the most and gains the opportunity to advance their friends vs who's going to get sidelined and not get the bigger cut of the pie.

And did they enter? A search warrant normally gives the bearer power from the courts to enter the named premises.

A subsequent news report from Thai PBS indicated the police ultimately entered and searched his house, with BJ claiming nothing incriminating was found.

I was kinda shocked at this headline and the short report.  But as an American who is embarrassed by my own politicians and rich barons that care only for themselves and not the nation nor its people, I shouldn't be surprised about this raid either.  However, I will let the courts here decided what has gone wrong.

As for the US, I saw a headline today "American politics, the corrupt Road to Riches".  It permeates every level in the US today.

You Americans have to make everything about yourselves.  Reminder, this topic is about a raid on a Thai senior policeman.

Deputy Police Chief’s Close Aides Allegedly Involving in Online Gambling Activities

BANGKOK, Sept 25 (TNA) – Eight close aides of the deputy national police chief are allegedly involved in online gambling, said Pol Lt Gen Triarong Piewphan, head of the Police Cyber Taskforce (PCT).

The police on Monday morning conducted search operations at 30 locations in six provinces to crack down on 12 illegal online gambling websites. Among those locations was a house of Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, the deputy national police chief in Bangkok.

“Big Joke” Denies Involvement in Online Gambling

BANGKOK, Sept 25 (TNA) – Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn aka Big Joke has asserted that he is not associated with online gambling. Instead, he believes that what has occurred is a political maneuver within the Royal Thai Police, aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

He spoke to the media after his house in Soi Wipawadi 60 was searched by the police from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau Police and arrest warrants were issued for his subordinates.

Weird stuff about the raided house where police found BJ...

From the various news reports, it seems that's where he was living, at least some of the time. He's referred to as the owner of the house. But other references say the house was "registered" in the name of someone else, a civilian, who hasn't yet been publicly identified.

Wonder what's going on with all that?

I have to say that I find this interesting.  There is a lot of smoke but I need to see some meat.  \

To some of these people that hate him and do not want him as Chief it is the imperfect storm.

Think of all the crap people have dug up on politicians they don't like take Pita for an example.

Hate to use trump as an example but it is easy to get an arrest warrant all you  need do is give a judge a brown envelope or find a judge that has an axe to grind or could be affected by Big Joke taking over.  The trick is proving that it is as big a crime as they want people to believe and getting the conviction.

As to 30 people hell how many of the lower class don't have a wager on a football game or a fight.

Unless someone shows me proof that he has done anything wrong or senior people in his staff that work directly for him are involved I tend to take this with a grain of salt.
