How to get a UK sim to work on Thai phone?

Featured Replies

I have a visitor who came with only a 'Lebara' UK sim and no phone.

I can't get the sim to work in my Thai phone.

Any ideas folks? What to do?

If you have an iPhone you can use WiFi calling to make and receive calls with your foreign sim. If you don’t have an iPhone then I assume your call carrier will have the information on their website, you may have to add funds in your uk cellular account.

My O2 SIM works fine in an old spare Samsung handset. Receives OTPs & messages. I replied to one message, and it took £2 off my balance. Last time I do that. I can call the number via Skype and the phone rings.

Mine too.  I don't see what the issue is. Just buy a cheap phone here are stick the sim in it.

Are your phone locked to a specific network?

Gordon Bennet!!

We are talking about my elderly people here.. with lesser agile minds and bodies.

My phone is a Motorola bought here and powered by True move.

So can't change network, but I will try using WiFi calling.

If all fails we will go to TucCom

Thanks for the helpful ideas.

Work in what way? Not finding a network at all?

Prepaid? Postpaid? What package?

Perhaps your phone doesn’t accept anything other than Truemove H SIM….

How is your phone "powered by True", what does that mean?  Are you just saying that your phone currently has your True SIM in it?  My Huawei has a Dtac and a True SIM but it is not "powered by" either of those companies.

I had a Lebara sim here in Thailand for a couple of years and that worked without a problem. Lost the number as they only allow 84 idle days and I took my eye off the ball, changed to Giffgaff.

Problem may well be the phone.

If anyone wants a UK number, Giffgaff will send a sim which can be activated here.

You have see the context, means locked to the True network.

Almost everyone that sells phones has a sign saying "Phones Unlocked".

Does it?  Is it your phone that the OP is referring to?

From the OP

"So can't change network, but I will"

Means he will take the phone to be unlocked but no doubt you will have some other obscure ideas.
