Pattaya, cesspit of crime, degradation, filth, fake smiles and broken dreams, a haven for sex tourists, pedos and mugs.

So much for the positives, what about the negatives?

I don't remember any name. But some of the places on the 2nd floor in Patpong are on that list. Luckily, I was too drunk to remember much.

  • Bangkok. Filthy dirty, too hot, sidewalks impassable, terrible traffic, smelly, too many people.......I could go on. It's my least favourite place in Thailand

Oh, did you hang out in those places, you seem to know a lot.....????

This isn't even a close contest.

PATONG

Total s-hole, attracts the most of the worst of locals/tourist nationalities, as well as a good number of weird ass expats (though Pattaya prolly has more). A giant woodpile of a-holes. Thai/falang food totally overpriced and generally subpar, mediocre beach/near-unswimmable water, constant feel of being an ATM. Silly transport options - 200bt tuk tuk no matter if 100m or 1km. Grab/Bolt better but also way more expensive than anywhere else in the country. Ayrabs screeching through streets on their douchebag T-Maxes, Injuns (so bad they make the batmunchers almost unnoticeable) everywhere being their generally uncouth loud selves, and 90% of the women in massage shops/bars etc look like thunder thighed Quasimodos who are rarely seen not stuffing their puffy faces with carbs.

Rest of the island still somewhat ok and clusters of this sort of filth are fairly avoidable.

So, the Hilton is an open-air brothel? I guess you never been to Amsterdam or Berlin go back under your rock.

Oh, well, I have been all over Isaan, lived here for many years, and I don't agree with what you have written, and 5 days is no time to make such statements.

But, I am not you.............????

Having been all over this planet, 5 days was plenty to get a good read, but you’re not me are you? Different people choose to live where and how they want, in different places and different atmospheres for different reasons, right?

I’m in no position to judge where or how anyone chooses to live, what they like or don’t like, how about you?

Bangkok has great spots and crap spots. You need to visit at least 5 times to.appreciate it.

Patong has great food away from the beach and cheap hotels. Paid 450 baht for a nice room and 60 baht dishes nearby.

But you chose to judge Isaan in just 5 days there, which reads like, stuck in one place. Which is total nonsense, bit like being in one place in Miami, one spot is a nightmare, the other great.....????

Phayao had 1 great restaurant, otherwise poor. Lampang looks like a rubbish tip.

Thought that pic was some depressing s-hole in eastern Europe like Ukraine.

No, I never been to Isaan, I said I never been there and don’t plan on going there.
You replied to my post about Phuket, a small place in which five days is/was more than enough. Thank you ????

You are mistaken, you replied to another about not ever going to Issan, I replied to that....

Go back and read..........????

Yeah I see, apologies for the misunderstanding…I have no reason why I don’t plan on going there besides I just don’t plan on ever going. I’m totally content with my situation in the north region plenty of different hidden unknown places to venture to. My wife doesn’t know anyone in Isaan, so no reason to go and I don’t plan on it.

The weekend flea market at Mo Chit has a small piece of ground under the foot bridge , its where locals dump household waste ..... the smell is genuinely breath taking .... it actually makes me wretch .... these days I hold my breath while passing .... it is without my worst place in Thailand , about 20sq M.

Having said that I go there every Saturday when I am in town !

Mine too, closely followed by Phuket

I would agree Moh Chit is not an inspiring place to be.

Having said that, ANY place in Thailand pales into insignificance when compared to Soweto, Detroit, or the Philadelphia projects. Those locations are really scary.

2 years older than you then

3 years older than you then. Sad but true.

Not many places I dislike so much I would consider to put in the list.

I will make one exception - Bang Saen.

A decade or so ago, a half-decent day trip destination from Bangkok.

The beach/sea descended into a filthy and polluted mess.

I’ve not travelled much, so I can only say that it was amongst the worst in my experience - a Scottish pub on an an even-numbered Soi on Sukhumvit, Bangkok, which I believe has fortunately changed hands - you’ve heard the story before, I am sure.
Pubs can be a challenge - you order your beer before your first impressions, and you don’t want to leave it.  But a piss-stinking bus station, where you have to wait, praying that your bus comes on time…

Well that's  a relief. One less tourist  to worry about.

Enjoy your touristy tour ????

My worst 5 places .....

1. Bangkok's Sukumvit Soi 13.  Dirty, no sidewalks, seedy, the tatty Trendy Building with it's hoards of dodgy visa agents, then an endless row of nondescript condo buildings until it dissappears into the bowels of inner Bangkok.

2. Phuket - overcrowded and the capital of tourist taxi scams.

3. Central Embassy, Bangkok - the most pretentious mall in the world.

4.  Nonthaburi - just because of the endless traffic jams.

5. Pathum Thani - That never-ending industrial wasteland North of Bangkok that you need to drive through before you get to the interesting bits of Thailand.

I should also add Crazy House in Asoke, which is a petting zoo frequented by Chinese businessmen, but it's morbidly fascinating, like Love Island and illegal cock fighting.

Where I live in Isaan, concrete estates are going up all over the place, few with a garden or even a bit of outside space, next doors windows a few feet away..........????

Western Australia is exactly the same. small block of land 3-400 meters square and a house that covers the entire block sharing a common wall with their neighbors.

it aint just Thailand it a global thing.

I used to live in Issan, great house 1& 1/2 Rai pool, bore water, quiet street.

just too bloody hot.

Do you think that Mo Chit bus station in Bangkok is a very nice place ?

Do you get off the bus in the morning , take a deep breathe and smell the stench of stale urine and think to yourself "Its great to be home"

Been there many times and never thought it particularly loathsome. Just another badly designed confusing warren of small shops and narrow alleys. If I thought about it at all it was interesting.

Of course it was built in the wrong place, far from the skytrain, but the people that build such probably never have to use them.

It should have been incorporated into the skytrain depot building across the Road from Chatachuk market.

Pointless wondering why things like that are a mess in a city where they couldn't even connect Ekamai to the expressway by an overhead road given it was so close, and made every bus travel along the congested Sukumvit road.

However, whenever I thought about such things, I remembered that they were part of the country I did want to live in, so didn't really bother me too much.

Yeah, NZ is also going down the route of building horrid ticky tacky boxes right next to each other- disgusting way to live.
