We all know it's important to be sceptical when Thai expats talk about their military exploits but if what OP says is true, I salute him for his bravery and moral compass.

Why do you do it?

Will you earn (a lot of) money?

Do you like to fight?

Do you do it because you want to support Ukraine and/or fight Putin?

Good questions

First i must say actually i was going last year but couldnt because of some personal reasons.

I want to go because i think what russia doing is not fair. Like many things not fair in the world. And yes i did react and i act many things not fair in the past.

Im full volunteer which means i will not get that 550 euro which normal foreigner volunteer gets or ukranian army member gets. So.. its free. But for your question.. yes i got really really good money from iraq and afghanistan. Ohh and from africa and mexico.

I hate fight. I hate young people die. Thats why im going so other's kids will not go..

In this case i will be in UA

Thanks

Thanks for your answer.

All the best!

Hopefully that war will end soon.

I hope you return unharmed.

I will never understand anyone who VOLUNTARILY goes to war.  Good luck.

So you have already participated in wars as a mercenary, now going to Ukraine to lead an assault squad who will fight, cause other young people to die, and other kids will also go to fight or be compelled to fight''

I don't get your reasoning.

They enjoy combat?

Yeh sure you do.

It depends.

I.e. if someone would try to break in your house, would you try to stop that person?

How about if a burglar would try to rob your neighbors or family members?

I can't imagine going to a war in a country where I don't have a connection to.

But I can imagine protecting my home country and the country where I live.

And there are many ways to do that.

I.e. I wouldn't be very helpful with a gun at the frontline. But I would help to build drones and things like that.

I have a notebook that I put people down in to think about when I'm doing a full metta meditation (the neutral object of contemplation -people you don't know, but wish well).

I'll toss you a vibe or two up the road.

Stay safe, help those good people.

The front line guys are called cannon fodder for a reason. You'd be as good as any cannon fodder.

Don't you ever have anything nice to say?

You will be sitting around a canteen and playing cards.  I'm pretty sure you can keep in touch.

To be fair, there are not so many nice things on the front line.

" All wars are theft writ large". Whatever the OP's motivations are, respect and good luck.

To be fair, someone going to fight tyranny deserves respect, encouragement, gratitude, not being called cannon fodder.

That's certainly true. Just ask the Ukrainian and Russian cannon fodder- they know.

Not about war. The most vile thing ever perpetrated on the human race, and the ones sending the boys to die are usually miles and miles behind the front lines.

I do have nice things to say about Thailand and Antarctica. Both wonderful places full of magic and wonder.

I like nice tropical beaches, sunsets and long legged pretty girls in short shorts and tight t shirts- bliss.

Seems like a good idea at the time.

I voluntarily signed up for my generation's war, but it ended while I was on my way.

I was young when I did though.

I believe the reason he stated he can read DM's, but not reply, is because there is an information lockdown.

Simple messages from a war zone can unintentionally reveal sensitive information.

All of the guys that I signed up with ( Vietnam, not Ukraine ) did so ( to my knowledge ) for adventure, see the world, bored etc.

Not one was a Rambo wannabe.

Not one expected to get paid a lot ( we didn't get paid a lot ).

I doubt any cared about the geopolitical reasons for the Vietnam conflict or cared about who they would be fighting.
