Read the link instead of posting unsubstantiated nonsense. These are serial attackers against foreigners.

What qualifies as "reporting" here is often shoddy, and often the original story takes an interesting twist over the coming days.

I wouldn't be surprised either way, but more often than not, "unprovoked" attacks do have a prelude.

Thai youths love wildling in packs. The foreigner may have simply said something innocuous to some kid on the street 10 minutes earlier, and the next thing he knows are multiple youths chasing him down on motorbike with sticks.

Which is always why it's not a good idea to assume, just like the Israel post. So many get into bickering amongst themselves when no one really knows the true story. Wait awhile and discuss amicably, instead of a bunch of old guys calling each other idiots, not capable or prejudiced.

Unprovoked attack on foreign tourist by teens threatens Pattaya’s tourism reputation

Falling victim to an unprovoked attack in Pattaya’s Nongprue sub-district, an unidentified foreign tourist was assaulted by a group of unruly teenage boys. The incident occurred in the evening on Soi Yensabai, a bustling street in South Pattaya within the Banglamung district, Chon Buri province.

The unprovoked attack on the foreign tourist was captured on a CCTV camera, showing the man strolling down the alley with a companion when two motorbikes carrying a group of teenagers approached. One of the boys struck the foreign tourist with a long stick before they continued on their way with an unnerving nonchalance. The footage suggests the assault was unprovoked, the tourist was merely walking past the group when he was attacked.

Coming to his aid was a local business owner known as Joy, a 36 year old woman who preferred to keep her real name hidden for safety reasons. She stated that the battered tourist had sustained injuries to his arm and the side of his stomach. Despite his ordeal, the tourist chose not to report the incident to Pattaya police, citing a fear of potential complications in Thailand as his reason.

They really are that sadistic i'm afraid..

Good old Bob using the 'them-against-us' rhetoric again. Why do you choose to live in a country where the locals hate foreigners (in your opinion)?

No reason to condemn the whole country because some hooligans in an infamous area/Soi attack foreigners.

There are certain spots in Pattaya where I wouldn't walk in the dark.

Soi Yensabai is an absolute hotspot to avoid.

Has it been clear that these hooligans are Thais?

Asking because a lot of trouble in the past by bike racers of middle east origin in this area.

The term "farang" seems to be slowly morphing from meaning "whitey" into a blanket term for all foreigners.

In the same way as "decimate" has been debased into total opposite of its original meaning.

It's also not "farang" anymore, only pedants spell it that way.

Acceptable spellings here on AseanNow include, but are not limited to...

falang

fallung

farlung

felang

ferrang

Something to do with displeasing a barstool girl who got her boyfriend to  bring over his chums and bravely give the farang a thrashing ?

Always be wary with the bar ladies as it can lead to unpleasant or dramatic outcomes.

I have personally been on the receiving end of such a situation in my youth.

Those bar girls are rougher than sandpaper!

There's only one way to spell a word, and that's correctly. It's farang. Anything else is wrong, and it's because many here cannot spell it right. Not that it matters, because everyone knows what others mean. It not pedantic to like to see things spelled right, and most people understand that there are many in life that cannot spell well. Spelling anything right only means you can spell, not that you're a "pedant".

In today's release more of the stuff which gives the blokes at the Thai tourism promotion board headaches if not sleepless nights.

It might result in only achieving 480% of the anticipated increase in tourist arrivals for 2023!

Personally all my encounters with "bar ladies" has been pleasant.

Most problems arise when a bar patron gets stupidly drunk.

20 years in Pattaya, the only problems I've had or seen are unruly falangs being bad actors.

So, they have been doing this to random Foreigners, over a period of time, the Police have been told about it before, have non of the victims reported it earlier?.

Possibly, as with other crimes, reports may have been made, then, according to the law and police regulations, filed in an orderly manner...

Please. As if they are so innocent and harmless in your native country? In the US, my countrymen adore violence. This kind of thing is rare here. Get over yourself.

Might want to tune into the local news daily. You'll see but a fraction of what goes on here daily. People don't adore violence in the US. The movies we see are a release of sorts, and not what the general public practices. There is a lot of violence everywhere, including here, and a lot more than you realize. It's not a good idea to stick up for violence towards foreigners, nor anyone else for that matter. It's far from rare here. What is lacking here is enforcement of laws already on the books. People that aren't punished for violent acts will continue them.
