Popular Post snoop1130 Posted November 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2023 What about us?! With nightlife venues in Phuket, Chon Buri, Bangkok and Chiang Mai being granted extended opening hours, other provinces want to do the same. From December 15, bars and clubs in 4 popular tourism provinces can remain open until 4am (previously 2am) for a trial period. The move is one of several introduced by PM Srettha Thavisin, in a bid to boost Thailand’s economy and the tourism sector. It is not yet known how long the trial will last and if or when it will be extended nationwide. Nightlife operator Pichanont Ingprasarn, who co-owns a number of venues in the eastern provinces of Trat, Chanthaburi and Rayong, says he’s hopeful the government will extend the later hours to other parts of the country, if it proves to be advantageous for tourism and the economy. Elkski Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 No booze after 2 but 2 hours for fights to brew up. People will just pop a pill at 1 am. Seems fair to dobit all or nothing. Plus seems like there should be a 3 strikes and its back to 2am. With clearly defined goalposts. Amd names of resorts and owners who get all 3 strikes will be published.

As fo other provinces and areas they will all follow suit. 1
Srikcir Posted November 6, 2023 Posted November 6, 2023 There should be no discrimination nor politicalization of public policy. Every province should get equal and independent consideration in proportion to the desires of its citizens. 2

Indeed Anutin did say that, he also said marijuana was for medicinal use only and to be prescribed by doctors. Bars open 2am-4am with customers will sell alcohol. 1

Tarteso Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Why to close at 4am ? let them open like 7-11. Of course it will be advantageous to improve the economy, tourism, road crashes and fights. 1 1

Only now less people will notice outside the bars and clubs if drinks are actually served after 2am or not.
LALes Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Here ya go. Every Tom, Dick and Harry local dive bar is gonna want in on this. Good luck with "enforcement". The one thing you can count on Thailand for is bad ideas. They seem to be in a hurry to cook their golden goose once and for all. 1 1

bamnutsak Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I think the Minister of the Interior will grant Provincial extensions based on "input" from "entertainment operators" via the Department Of Provincial Administration (DOPA).

parallelman Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Oh, come on chaps...why stop there. Just make it all provinces 24/7...but you have to recruit more police.
StayinThailand2much Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 Yes, who in Thailand wouldn't want to party hearty all through the night till 4 a.m., sipping water after 2 a.m. ...

Popular Post Kerryd Posted November 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2023 Years ago the bars had a closing time of 2am. They kept pushing it and many didn't close until 3. Some pushed it to 3:30 because the BiB were turning a blind eye to it. Many of my friends were bar/restaurant owners on Walking St. We'd close out their places, then sit on the street near a "drink cart" and watch the fun wind down until the sky started getting light and then go home. But then the military cracked down on things and everyone went back to a 2 am closing. But it used to be even worse (or better) back in the 90s. At one point, bars had to close between 6am-10am. But in reality all they had to do was turn off the music (and turn on the lights). Customers were allowed to stay to "finish their last drink" which really meant they could just keep on drinking and the staff would simply put their bin-cups below the counter-top. I remember leaving bars at 11-12pm and then in the morning jogging past them around 7am and the same staff, and often the same customers, were still there. And like before, it will take (weeks ? days ? hours ?) before some bars start pushing the line and as soon as they do, others will follow for fear of losing business. It won't take them long until they are serving (discreetly at first) until 4am. Just depends on how enthusiastic the BiB are on enforcing the rules. (Pretty sure we already know the answer to that. I mean if they can walk down Walking Street and then authoritatively declare that they found no evidence of prostitution then you can be sure they will be able to walk past 40 bars full of customers at 3:30 am and and state that none of them were breaking the rules. 4
