The Met Police WON'T ban Poppy Day pro-Palestine rally

Scotland Yard last night gave the green light to a pro-Palestine rally on Armistice Day as its top cop claimed it had 'no absolute power' to ban the protest.

In a thinly veiled swipe at the Home Secretary, Metropolitan Police chief Mark Rowley said the laws of Parliament and intelligence gathered by its sources did not justify a ban.

The country's most senior police officer said the protest, which is expected to draw in 70,000 people, could only be banned if there was a 'real threat' of serious disorder. 

 

This was despite fears of violent clashes between the marchers and Right-wing activists. The rally's organisers had already rebuffed the Met's pleas to postpone.

They have also defied Rishi Sunak, who said the event was 'disrespectful', and Suella Braverman, who called it a 'hate march'.

 

Sir Mark said he could not ban Saturday's demonstration simply because people felt it should not take place. 'The laws created by Parliament are clear. There is no absolute power to ban protest, therefore there will be a protest this weekend,' he insisted. 

'The law provides no mechanism to ban a static gathering of people. It contains legislation which allows us to impose conditions to reduce disruption and the risk of violence, and in the most extreme cases when no other tactics can work, for marches or moving protests to be banned.'

He said use of the power to block moving protests is 'incredibly rare' and must be reserved for cases where there is intelligence to suggest a 'real threat' of serious disorder.

We saw it during Covid when BLM were allowed a free pass while anti-lockdown protestors were shown an iron fist. We saw the Pakistani grooming gangs ignored because they didn't want to inflame tensions in minority communities. Now we have kid gloves shown to anti semites because they don't want to offend Muslims.

 

Absolutely pathetic. Police taking political sides. Even trying to redefine the word Jihad so they don't have to take action against those calling for it. Cowards.

There is a "real threat of serious disorder". They just choose to ignore it for the Pro Palestine crowd.

What a load of cobblers, Sir Mark Rowley is a weak police officer that does have the power to stop the hate marches, he is lying. Steven Barrett prominent lawyer states:-

The March on Saturday *can* be banned, by him

If he doesn't want to, that's his choice. But as a Police Officer it is important he is accurate and honest

Would that be the same protesters that are desecrating war memorials, we have remembrance day once a year is it too much to ask for people to show respect for the fallen, they have had 4 of these hate marches already too much to ask to postpone this one, but a lot of people think that this is a deliberate attempt to antagonise people paying their respects!

And if I may add, which group do you think Jeremy Corbyn will join, you know the man that called Hamas his friends, rhetorical question as we all know the answer to that already.

Do you think painting 'free Palestine' on war memorials is acceptable, do you think that attacking an 78 year old man selling poppies is acceptable, plus there have been others, Brits have been arrested for displaying the Union Flag and when the police were asked why don't you arrest those carrying Palestinian flags, they answer 'there are too many of them' are you happy with the fall of law and order on the streets, these people that chose to go on these hate marches have probably no idea where Gaza is, they are part of a cult that have been brainwashed by their peers or their left wing tutors at university, the Met Police are no use nor ornament.

 

You say that this is what the British Military fought for, well I'm sorry Bill but none of my family fought for the breakdown of law and order, this is not free speech, this is hate speech and it is not too far off the rallies they had in Germany in the 1930s, wake up and smell the coffee Bill, people ignored the plight of the Jews in the 1930s and it is beginning to repeat itself again.

Here’s a question for you.

 

The current forecast is for 70,000 people to attend the marches.

 

How many need to engage in illegal acts before you blame all 70,000 for those illegal acts (which by the way haven’t yet happened)?

Perhaps you would also like to pay homage to the non British individuals who fought for Britain’s survival in both world wars, many of whom were Muslims and many of those would certainly have agreed ‘Allah Akbar’.
