Freemasonry in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Masonic Meet and Greet Evening 6pm 9th December.

We are holding an informal Masonic Meet and Greet evening from 6pm on Saturday 9th December 2023 at the OMG Bar and Restaurant on the corner of Loi Kroh Road and Charoen Prathet Road, near the Iron Bridge in Chiang Mai. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/6znmGCs8K6zhBZ4GA)

If you are a Freemason, or just curious about becoming a Freemason, come and join us for a chat and a few beers. Bring your Wives, Partners and Children if you wish.

To all the Freemasons in Chiang Mai, and the surrounding area, do you miss the Lodge and the company of your Brothers? Well we have some exciting news to tell you, so come and see us at 6pm on Saturday 9th for an informal social evening of good company and conversation.

A post contravening our Community Standards has been removed.

This is a very well-meaning topic. If you do not have anything positive to say then please move on. For those who might enjoy the company of like-minded men, many of who will have been in Thailand for some years then do consider attending.

What is a Freemason? What happens at these events?

It’s just another club like any other club whether it’s a church political bar-stool or a boring yammering club, just a club to fill in and pass the time with chit-chat

The internet has lots of theories

Freemasonry opens doors. I mean, um, I can get a bit on edge, but…but if I was a mason, I’d just sit at the back and not get in anyone’s way.
I nearly got in at Nong Hoi

The purpose of Freemasonry is to make good men better. It cannot change the world, only the men in it.

Then why it is all secret?

My maternal grandfather was a Mason (operating-level Thetan I think ) can I get a pass-through? I'll just sit at the back and won't get in anyones way(Monty Python reference)

Will members be required to wear a suit and tie to Lodge meetings here in Chiang Mai?

Will the meeting rooms be air-conditioned?

Its not secret,  anyone can turn up at Grand Lodge in London and take a tour.

Its only that there are parts of Masonry that are confidential and for members only just like any other organization.

Yes and Yes. We usually meet in hotels which are air-conditioned.

If any one reading this post is interested look at this website https://www.grandlodgescotland.com/

This is the Scottish Constitution (version) of Masonry but there many other Constitutions such as the English, Irish, French, Dutch etc all their websites are freely accessible on the WWW.

It's not a secret society, it's a society with secrets.

Such as what other organizations?  Boy Scouts?  Lions Club? PTA?  AA?

A friend of mine stated he was an ex Mason, to which I replied there is no such thing as an ex Mason.

You're either a Mason, or a bad Mason......

He chuckled and agreed.

Love the symbology. In Wash. DC, it's everywhere. As in all things, Black free masonry has the more compelling iconography. Avant Jazz God Sun Ra's album covers showcase it well, if anyone wants a quick, eye-popping Google Image surf.

Jazz has a lot of freemasonry running through its history:

I'm not a follower, but post your next meeting here and I'll try to come.

Hi Peter, I am a freemason from Ancient and primitive Rite of Memphis and Misraim. I stay in Chiang Mai for 1 year and would like to contact local freemasons. I know that here only men are allowed to participate in the works, so I want just to get in touch for informal meeting. Unfortunately I missed the 9th December meeting, I found you just now. Thank you!

Some of the info may be a little dated however.

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit
