Police arrest two Burmese men over Patong knife fight

Two Burmese nationals have been arrested over a knife fight in Phuket yesterday. The Phuket Express reports that police were alerted just before 1.00am that a fight had broken out in front of a bar on Pracha Nukroh Road in the popular tourist destination of Patong.

 

According to eyewitness reports, a group of teenagers was seen driving motorbikes and chasing another group, after which they heard what sounded like a gun shot. Officers inspected the area and checked CCTV footage, but found only fire cracker balls and no indication of a gun having been fired.

 

Police also found two Burmese nationals at the scene, identified as 23 year old Tean Pei and 21 year old Win Sithu. According to the men, they were sitting on the beach when a group of about 7 Burmese men attacked them.

...it's the kind of wild story you often read here. why were the  2 burmese nationals arrested, since the article doesn't mention whether the two individuals were armed with knives or a gun?

They were arrested as they were the only two police could find...
If you read the link one was carrying a knife when arrested.

That's not how I read it they were arrested at the workers camp, and confiscated the knife there, nothing is said about him carrying it. And no mention of any CCTV footage.
