over 40 ? STOP EATING BREAKFAST...

Does first meal of eggs count as breakfast if eaten around 1100 hrs.   Never was a big early morning breakfast eater.

Why I hate when buffet brekkie is included in hotels, with no opt out option.

Not cooking this morning.

Instead I enjoyed a delicious Eggs Benedict at the Mandarin Oriental's Verandah Restaurant.

Lovely cool morning to be watching the boats go past on the Chao Phraya river.

Tonight I will be cooking chicken breast with an Italian Arabiata sauce with just a little bit of chili in it and chopped black and green olives, accompanied by a few small new potatoes – – and of course the obligatory half bottle of wine (plus)!

I still have some tofu left over from yesterday's menu, so tomorrow I may well revisit my Chinese Mabo Tofu recipe, with pork mince and mixed brown rice.

AND,  I'm trying to cut down on my carbohydrate intake so have stopped making my home-made pizzas (three plus a week), but I am getting withdrawal symptoms, so rather than make a pizza myself in a couple of days I will buy one from Da Moreno, the Italian restaurant nearby which makes superb pizzas.

New potatoes  ? You mean baby potatoes that you can peel with your thumb ? As a Brit I only know Jersey new potatoes which are delicious . Where can you buy new potatoes in Thailand please ? Normally use them in salads .

These are ready peeled and cooked and are bought in large glass jars from Big C here.

They are from Germany and are labelled "Kartofflen" and I've seen them on Lazada, but they are quite a bit cheaper in Big C (189 baht I think).

Great thanks I will search . Also can you recommend a Pinot Noir in Thailand at a reasonable price and where to buy please ?

Hmmm.......I'm afraid I've "fallen out of love" with everyday Pinot Noir ever since I tasted the top of the range French ones, because there is nothing to match them IMO.

So I'm afraid I can't really help you on that score and my main drinking at the moment consists of wines from Italy, and you may well find a few "lighter" red wines there – – good luck.

As an addendum to that posted above, I have tasted a few from Australia, but have never really come to terms with them for one reason or another, but then again everyone to their own.

@NoshowJones Was there yesterday and noticed these, along with another 'variety' pack w/Cumberlands in it.

Thanks I'll be at Makros on Monday.

Up here in Kamphaeng Phet, Makro has stopped selling sausages and also frozen flaky and puff pastry. Probably not enough call for them, as it is only a small province with not so many farangs living out here.

Small loaf, as cut 200g out for a dinner ... pizza 😎

Not exactly small, as does weigh 620g

Made butter the other day, supposedly a liter of heavy (whipping) cream, 970g, and better yield was 400g, with plenty of buttermilk left over.

Guess I'm making pancakes tomorrow.

I think I made butter with half & half once, but not sure, and would cut the cost in about half, but not sure about the yield.

Cream at 189 baht, and our store bought butter at 315/kg, so not a money saver, if just for butter @ ~470/kg.

Day before I tried with 1 liter of whole, and that turned out to be a waste of a liter of milk :cheesy:

Hi back in the fray after 187 days away.

My Thai partner who loves to make pies, pizzas, sausages, bacon has decided to make bread - I prefer multi seeded - can anyone suggest wthe best place where the multiseeds for bread can be purchased.

Tops have a big range of seeds and pulses near the rice in the one I go to.

That Amish treat, Scrapple, and haven't made this in a dog's age 😎

No scraps for mine, used pork tenderloin.

My dad used to make scrapple. Try making hash with it.

You should make some head cheese.

Roasting Cashews (@175C for ~10mins) along with making Cashew butter in the food processor.  Simple grind till as smooth as you want.

CheeseSteak sandwich later on today, mid day snack and or dinner.

Bought a museli mix in Macro sorted out the sultanas and large fruit bits - here is the result - we still need to experiment with different quantities of different flours and ingredients also did add some black and white sesame but so far so good towards saving 75 baht a loaf at Macro

If shrimp cake fan, this was too easy, and turned out rather good.  Made 6 nice pieces, using one of those round metal egg forms, you'd use for egg mcmuffin.  Or just spoon it in the pan.

Recipe below as guide 🙄  too lazy to go to the garden for green onions or to chop garlic :coffee1:

Mix everything else together in a bowl, then simply add Shrimp and mix
