TAT Accelerates Elevating Thailand to Global Muslim Tourism Index Standard

BANGKOK, Feb 16 (TNA) – Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) drives the Muslim tourism market to elevate Thailand to the standard of the Global Muslim Tourism Index (GMTI) on par with the global level and promotes Muslim tourists to travel to Thailand during the Ramadan season.

 

Imam Mathanarat Vacharapisut, the representative of the Haroon Mosque and the Islamic Committee of Bangkok, met with Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand to discuss the cultural tourism promotion strategy for Muslim tourism.

 

This strategy includes showcasing beautiful architectural mosques as new tourist attractions (Mosque Tour) in Bangkok, with Haroon Mosque and others among the 10 highlighted mosques as leading destinations, aiming to standardize Muslim Friendly Tourism (MFT) and Muslim Friendly Tourism and Hospitality (MFTH) services to elevate Thailand to the standard of the Global Muslim Tourism Index (GMTI) and encourage Muslim tourists to travel to Thailand during the Ramadan season.

Why? The new muslim woke brought about by muslims murdering, raping, beheading, kidnapping etc. Israelis on Oct 7. I've seen some absolutely pitiful westerners falling for this crapp. Free Palestine they say. From the river to sea they say. Absolutely no idea.

At least they won't all get drunk. The Thai Muslims in general are very hard workers, they don't sit around all day drinking, gambling, or having shoot outs. There are fanatics in all religions, not just Muslims.

Whose generalising. The OP is about Muslims. Yes there are different types of Islamic faith (7 as I recall) as there is Christianity and Catholocism. This I am fully aware of.

I would have thought that Ramadan is not the time for Muslims to travel, particularly with eating and drinking restrictions. Compound this with the hot Thai climate.

At one time I worked in Libya for an O&G co. During Ramadan very little got done as they were fasting all day and didn't have the energy to do anything. Then in the evening they would pile their food dishes high and deep and gorge themselves.

An eye opener for this guy. Many of them in the HSE/Safety dept. had Masters degrees from UK on the govt dime (courtesy of the "colonel") Most were lazy and incompetent IMHO.

But only one world religion was founded by a slave owning thief, killer and child abuser who admitted spreading his nasty ideas by terror, who they all worship. That has consequences, even in Thailand.

You want to go very, very, very careful with that idea. Most Fidels are harmless and do not create a problem, except they stick to a few issues which are a no-no in any other cluster of human society.
Halal slaughtering is forbidden in many countries these days as it is the most brutal way of ending an animal's life (and you can put "kosher" into the same chapter). While this might have made sense prior to refrigeration, today it is no issue anymore and should be considered more than obsolete. 
Their prayer rooms, ear shattering screaming off the minarets five times a day; a nuisance to everybody of non-Islamic origin. An absolute arrogance which could be avoided completely. The Swiss prohibit the erection of minarets; mosques are of course there and being used - but without the unnecessary demonstration of trying to be primi-inter-pari!
The subjugation of women; in extreme cases (and I've witnessed such incidents) a male fidel refuses to deal with women by principle. 

Welcome the muslims as long as they stick to the values of Thailand. This includes some people wearing tank tops, eat pork, drink alcohol and treat women as equal human beings, not running around completely wrapped up in black bed linen etc.

But the religion was founded by a self confessed terrorist so is fair comment, or should be. Forgotten Oct 7th already or the so called 'insurgency' in the south and several other countries? I would suggest it's not such a good idea to encourage the followers of the fake prophet as tourists.

Practically every week, it's a new country or religious community that TAT wants to "lure". At this rate, they'll have covered all the countries soon.
It gives the illusion that TAT is serving a purpose and justifies their salaries.
Why not focus on making this country more welcoming and less of a cesspit that it is? 
The list is long: the Phuket taxi mafia, various scams, pollution, moronic alcohol sales restrictions, horrible road safety issues, etc..  

The entire Covid period was a great opportunity to bring about lasting fundamental changes. Of course nothing has been done.

 

Even the bargirls are quoting absurd prices now. The mere existence of a market indicates a significant level of desperation for sex in Farangland.

TAT has a tough job trying to convince Muslims or any folks to come to TH, beside the poorest of the poor of the international travelers.  IMHO

 

From my reading, seems much better offerings just about everywhere, except for those thinking about traveling on the cheap.  Just seems other destination are more modern (if wanting), but definitely cleaner.  The amount of trash and unmaintained building here/TH is quite surprising.  A simply coat of paint would do wonders.
