Checks ordered on foreigners in Phuket for possible links to organized crime

The Phuket provincial administration has instructed all district officers to check the backgrounds and conduct of foreigners living on the resort island, including the Swiss man who allegedly assaulted a female Thai doctor, to ascertain whether they are members of extortion gangs or involved in organised crime.

 

Phuket Deputy Governor Adul Chuthong said today that Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul ordered an investigation of foreign criminal gangs in Phuket, following the incident last week when the Swiss man, identified only as David, allegedly assaulted a female Thai doctor for allegedly trespassing on his property on Yamu Beach, when she sat the staircase of his rented seaside villa.

 

He said that foreigners found to be involved in illegal activities in Phuket will have their visas revoked, be blacklisted and then deported.

 

The Swiss national, who is facing assault charges filed against him by the doctor, is having his visa and registration with a foundation caring for elephants checked by officials.

 

The man’s visa is due to expire on March 13th and immigration officials are yet to decide whether to extend it. It will depend on the outcome of the alleged assault case.

Not only check the backgrounds, but also check their motor vehicles, living accommodation, business licenses, visas, language school attendance records, sources of funds, and of course their known Thai associates, telephone calls, etc.. Focus on the Russians, especially the ones that have a Police Officer's phone number in their contacts phone book!

 

Check all people living in villas and big condos.

May I suggest throwing all foreigners out of Phuket and let them in after checking their paper. Since everyone is Thailand seems to be up to their neck with Xenophobia, it’s a right time to start with clean slate.

That's going to be interesting, Thai police against all the worst species they have first invited, thanks to Mr Shretta's free visa policies with countries no other wants to deal with. It's too late, the disease already spread, businesses taken over, underground is already upperground.

You know how thailand exaggerates things when something happens. Next they will be demanding background checks on all long time visa holders of foreigners and making you get it yourself so they do not have to take their own time in obtaining it.

Remember the "big crackdown" on "bikers" and how they were going to revoke the visas and deport foreigners that were members of "1%" motorcycle clubs ? I haven't heard of any actually having their visas cancelled (or denied when trying to renew them). 

There's only what, a few thousand foreigners, living in Phuket. I'm sure it won't take any time at all to run all their names through national and international police databases and weed out all the honest ones from the ones who may be using false names and fake/stolen passports. 

Or - it's news meant to placate the small crowds of demonstrators who will now go home and put their protest signs in the cardboard recycling pile, content in the knowledge that one foreigner will (might) be deported.

Wow, a minor assault charge, to background check on all foreigners in Phuket. That escalated fast.

 

i wonder where the issue of gangsters in Phuket came up? Afaik, there has been no suggestion that the badly behaved Swiss man is a gangster.

 

But in Thailand big announcements rarely lead to any action. And if it did, you can bet your bottom dollar that honest expats will be put through a ton of hoops, while the gangsters just pay their way out of any check.

More and more this is becoming a police state. This is a good way to drive all the foreigners away and all the money we spend. I'm sure Pattaya is next.

My guess is alot of Russians will be deported. I have spoken to Russians who have told me 90% of Russians with real money are involved in crime. I will certainly not miss them.

Things are getting really bad when you go to bed and listen to music only to hear Russians selling their services, Building companies, real estate, cleaning, taxis, bar and  restaurants, club owners with Russian bimbos, visa services and the list goes on and on. 

Russian women driving drunk and killing people on bikes, Russians fighting with the wife and killing a Thai women on a bike,, Russian mafia coming to a town near you. And there free visas are still happening it's time Thailand did the same as Sri Lanka and send them all home.

The problem with this guy is it's not his first offense. There is video of him blocking an ambulance and giving them the bird. He's the exact kind of turd we DON'T need here cuz his stench taints all expats.
