Like I have said in the past, we can't rely on staying here permanently, we are only guest.....we will never be Thai, so don't burn your bridges in your home country, you may have no choice but to return. I will own nothing here, other than my bank account, and even then I worry about that. I and my wife's assets/accounts are totally separate, and that's the way it will stay. 2 2 1

Statistically, the rise has not been significant, but the reporting and social media frenzy over recent incidents, is spurring the police and Thai immigration officials into a reactive stance. Police now claim that some of the recent cases “pose significant threats to societal order”. So, Pol. Gen. Roy Ingpairoj, Deputy Chief of the Royal Thai Police, is taking decisive action. He has publicly issued a number of public directives to the Commissioner of Immigration, “mandating stricter enforcement of immigration laws”. Middle Aged Grouch Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Screen also all the falangs legally living in Thailand, in Hua Hin, Bangkok.... who run businesses and cheat foreigners in overcharging or with crappy quality deliveries. Mainly in the real estate business, tailor shops or restaurants.

The Dep Police Chief reminds Immi officers to do their job and suddenly, Thailand is anti-farang and only wants their money! Paranoia much! When "ordering" more and more tourists to come and spend forex in the country, give certain nationals 90 days on arrival (some of which should actually follow their big mouth and join the invading forces of their country or others that found a much more convenient way to triad around than at home under constant camera survellance) the chances are that the amount of weird and/or criminally inclined rises to the same proportion. By the way, the call for more quality tourists who stay in 7star places and spend millions and hold a Privileged spender card only means the percentage of high profile gangsters is also rising..................but with those we are all acquainted from the news daily. You cannot have both: tourist $s and Xenophobia, at least not for long, But no worries, the hordes will eventually move on after having ruined the Costa Brava, costa blanca, riviera, adria, santorini, Goa, Bali, Lombok, Cebu, Phuket, Samui, Pattaya, Chiang Mai they'll find a new victim that will believe to be doing everything completely different and muuuuuch better. And looking at who ruled or rules all those places , big policing is always the easy answer. The paradox is the international notion that in this context borders mean anything, the same borders that were somewhere else some years ago (don't exclude yourself, mates, also and especially in Europe) and people that are now foreigners, bad per definitionem, used to be compatriotes and neighbours and who knows in some years to come........they might all be chinese and have a government chip implanted, after all the whole of Eurasia has ALWAYS been chinese for thousands of years including all the oceans and islands and resources and the will of the people has always been overrated. Note for the less humour equipped : this is a satire. Did you read that yourself before posting, or just type and hit the button? Bloody hell, it was difficult to make any sense of it! I gave up after the first few sentences. Here's a tip... if you want people to actually read, consider, and respond to your droning monologue, at least take the time to proof read it! 3

When I went in February to do my extension, my wife talked with the immigration officer in Thai, he let it slip that those "Agent's" have access to at least some of the computer systems at immigration, the same one he was in when he was going through my paperwork. Sounds like the whole thing is rigged to perpetuate their schemes. 1 1 2

Denying the change is ridiculous. Not if you're not paranoid or a big believer in conspiracy theories it isn't! You could always explain what the new policy shift is and why it has taken place, that might help your argument. Thailand still wants to attract retirees and still wants the foreign sourced income they remit here, now more than ever. They don't however want the criminal and impoverished gamers that come typically come with it, you know, the border runners, the education visa holders who learn Thai or Muay Thai and certainly not the work at home and not pay tax mob. Oh yes, and they don't want the, I have 800k in the bank for a visa crowd who really have to pay an agent to pretend they do. So, let me be ridiculous and deny any change in policy, it's down to you to convince us that's what it is, rather than enforcing existing laws. Edited March 26 by Mike Lister 2

Taboo2 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I am glad to see this policy come into effect. Some folks just do not belong here. They have no idea on how to party in Paradise. The trouble makers are spoiled, entitled, cowards. Example, they would never fight cops in their own country. They would respect a store if they say remove your shoes, etc. I hope the Thais revolt and start taking actions against these folks. 1 2 1
