Pattaya —Pattaya City Mayor, Mr. Poramase Ngampiches, has voiced his support for the draft of the “Comprehensive Entertainment Facilities Act,” which paves the way for the development of entertainment complexes in Thailand, including legal casinos.

Speaking to the Thai media on March 25th, 2024, Mr. Poramase stated that he sees this project as a chance to create a new economic dimension for Pattaya, similar to Singapore’s successful tourism model.

However, Mr. Poramase stressed that although he agrees with the project, the Thai government needs to have clear regulations in place first to limit the project’s potential negative effects. The mayor further highlighted the possibility of developing the complex on a large area like in Jomtien near Pattaya, which has large enough available land as the complex could take up to over 1,000 rai.

Meanwhile, Mr. Wattanaphon Phonchiwin, President of the Chonburi Real Estate Association, revealed that the project could have several benefits for Pattaya such as job creation, increased residential demand, better tourism, and an overall positive impact on the city’s economy.

This is totally out of reality in a massive way. 1000 rai????

Look at Las Vegas. There are not many, if any, of the casinos that spread over 100 rai. For example, that would be 400 x 400 meter square land area. This guy is talking about a land area of 1600 x 1000 meter.

Years ago there were 'secret' plans to develop The Ambassador Hotel Na Jomtien as a casino - the 3rd PM + an unmentionable high authority were said to be behind them.

Great, Jomtien gets a mega-casino complex, but still doesn't have a proper supermarket!

(With apologies to Foodmart, but it really is a very small and limited shop.)

For a long time I have thought that a casino will be built in Pattaya on 2nd Rd between Klang and Central Marina. There are big swathes of vacant land owned by Chang's property arm and plans in place for two new Marriott hotels, a Legoland and a zoo. Also included are business convention facilities where I expect the casino to be included or very close by.

There is a rumour of a SIam Paragon for Jomtien, perhaps get one in there.

Ha.  Yes, and rumors of Asiatique in Bangsaray.  All this is just talk been going on for years I bet it never happens.

I think Aquatique was planned for Pattaya Beach Road, not Bangsaray.  That, and the casino entertainment complex, may or may not ever happen.   But not everything is 'just talk'.  The new highrise hotel across from Centre Point Space is being finished, after it stalled during covid.  The old shops up the street from it near the circle have been boarded up and look to be demolished--the land has gotten too valuable for what was there.  Another new large structure across the street from it and near CP Space is going up--not sure what it will be.  Spouse thought maybe some sort of entertainment.  The new Arom Wongamat highrse condo is nearing completion.

Speaking of Centre Point, yet another massive one, Centre Point 3, is slated for a huge tract of land in front of Cape Dara--it's been cleared and fenced off.  From the photos on the construction wall, CP3 will be bigger than Grand Centre Point at T21 and CP Space.  Up the street from CP3, another big highrise is planned, Wyndham Grand.

The old hotel next to Centric Sea is being totally re-done.  And, that big, old house that sat on the very large piece of land between Second Road and Beach Road near Hard Rock Hotel has been demolished and the land cleared.  Curious as to what will be going in there.  Another big project in Jomtien, to go with all the other new ones--Copacabana Coral Reef, with 1900+ condos--is the next project slated for Jomtien Second Road.  It joins the previously announced Skypark Lucean highrise, two towers of 60 and 31 floors.

On the Darkside, some sort of new amusement park is going up near View Ang restaurant.  A large, new hospital connected to Thammasat University is being built near Siam Country Club.  Plus, many new housing estates, with a number of them in the 10MB price point and up.   All over town, new retail is springing up--from new auto dealers such as Changan to interesting places to hang out like the quite large 2-level coffee cafe, Nitan, on Sukhumvit.   Pattaya continues to grow.
