The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Thamanat Prompow, has begun steps to upgrade the Singkhon border crossing in Prachuap Khiri Khan to a permanent checkpoint.

This development is poised to enhance the transport and trading of high-quality aquatic products between Thailand and Myanmar.

During a meeting held on April 7, 2024, at the Singkhon border checkpoint’s conference room, Mr. Thamanat reviewed progress on establishing a center for the transshipment of aquatic products in the area.

Currently operating as a temporary crossing, the Singkhon checkpoint faces limitations in law enforcement, congestion, and does not meet the necessary sanitary and safety standards. Mr. Thamanat emphasized the need for concerted efforts among relevant agencies, led by Mr. Somkid Jantamrit, the provincial governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan, to address these challenges.

I think because the northern crossing's between Myanmar & Thailand are experiencing heavy fighting the Prachuap Khiri Khan crossing is in far less hostile territory. Recently the Myanmar Junta requested to land in Mae Sot international airport over 3 days to evacuate citizens, however what they really wanted to do was move cash from the city banks across the border from Mae Sot and fly it to Rangoon, the first flight went ahead but the 2nd & third never happened with no explanation to Thailand.

The Minister of Agriculture is not responsible for Border Control so I have to assume he is lobbying to facilitate movement of his high-quality aquatic products which must be Koi Carp with swim bladders containing white powder.

They've been talking about this for many, many years and nothing ever happens.

A bit like licensing Casinos and giving foreigners 1 rai of land they can own to build on, etc etc

Seems they wanted to move the soldiers and police and their families from tak to Yangon together with the valuables . Instead the plan stalled after the police and soldiers capitulated to the opposition party so no plane flight happened .

The 1st flight did go ahead with no passengers, just "official documents" claimed by the illegal junta military but it was cash form the Myawaddy banks!

Are there any myanmar border crossings that can currently be used to get a new 90 days on a non o multiple? I’d love to use this border but it looks like it may never open.
