A Thai man died in a tragic motorcycle crash in Chalong shortly after midnight today. The accident, which involved a single vehicle, occurred in front of Ban Chalong School on Chao Fa West Road, a notoriously dangerous intersection.

The Chalong Police Station and the Ruamjai Phuket Foundation were alerted of the incident around 12.45am. Upon reaching the scene, they found a Honda Click scooter that had collided with a power pole on the side of the road, along with the lifeless body of 57 year old Thai man Uthai Yadee.

Despite the intersection being a hotspot for accidents, there were no active CCTV cameras in the vicinity to provide insights into the events leading up to the crash. Residents reported hearing the crash but didn’t witness the incident.

The Chalong Police, based on the available evidence, suspect that Yadee could have misjudged the curve, leading to the tragic accident. The fact that the weather conditions were not alluded to as possible contributing factors, and Yadee’s scooter showed no marks indicating contact with another vehicle, further supports this theory.

Photos from the accident scene depict a motorcycle helmet lying on Yadee’s scooter, but it remains unclear if he was wearing it at the time of the accident.

As of now, this latest fatality has not been recorded by the Thai Road Safety Foundation (ThaiRSC), and the road fatality tally on ThaiRSC.com remains at 58, reported Phuket News.

In related news, a fatal accident involving a Ducati motorbike and a roadside barrier claimed the life of a 29 year old man last week in Kalim, north of Patong on the scenic Phuket coastal road. The unnamed victim, a resident of Moo 7, Mai Khao, suffered catastrophic head trauma in the collision, leading to his untimely demise.

The crash was reported to Police Lieutenant Colonel Chayakorn Tangsakul of the Patong Police at around 8.20am, on April 18. On arrival, officers found the distressed scene near the Abzab Restaurant, with the red Ducati motorbike lying next to a concrete roadside barrier. The victim’s body was discovered beside a coconut tree, on the opposite side of the barrier.

Looking at the crash scene and the claret he brained himself on the ground or power-pole.

The crash helmet looks like an accessory hanging on the handle bars without any sign of damage.
