Every European country requires ID to vote.   Are you suggesting that every European country is "gerrymandering" their votes or denying their citizens the right to vote?  ID has also always been required to pick up a parcel from the post office amongst other things.

I'd personally take it a step further and would want to see proof of paying tax before letting someone vote.   No representation without taxation and all that...

You want to vote, bring your photo ID. Not so hard. Seems like common sense to me.

This what? A photo ID required to vote. You care enough about voting, get one.

Gerrymandering must mean something different in British English.

I’m quite certain it has the same meaning wherever English is spoken.

You might of course believe you have evidence to the contrary, but you do not.

Gerrymandering is drawing maps to favor one party over the other.

Gerrymandering, in U.S. politics, is the drawing of the boundaries of electoral districts in a way that gives one party an unfair advantage over its rivals.

The term is derived from the name of Governor Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, whose administration enacted a law in 1812 defining new state senatorial districts.

So, no.  Requiring ID isn't gerrymandering.  Voter suppression, maybe.  Depending on how it's done.  But it isn't gerrymandering.

I receive my polling card,in with it are all the instructions for voting as well as accepted forms of ID,those who drive and have a plastic driving licence,a blue badge,a passport,a bus pass and if you don't have any photo ID you can apply for a free voter document, so where is the problem?

A certain person seems to like being argumentative😀
