Why does the electric power stop, when the rains begin?

Recommended Posts

This happens every year, during the first week of the Raining Season.

But why?

Is this just to keep us on our toes?

Is this to remind us that the powers that be can withhold the power, anytime they like, if we should ask for more than we deserve?

Sitting in the dark with my NOTE4...

And,...

Loving it.

Regards,

Gamma G.

But why?

Despite this overall high level of reliability, there are still shortages and outages occur that do affect Thailand's power supply. These outages are frequently associated with equipment failures related to aging infrastructure and deferred grid maintenance.

It mostly happens when there is a storm with lightning.

A few years ago I was at a roadside restaurant when a bolt of lightning struck an electric pole over the road and caught fire.

It may be they switch off the electric for repairs further afield.

When the power went down this early eve, I saw three ambulances go by in the span of about an hour, something which I never see.

No sirens, just flashing lights.

And, I thought to myself....

Thank the gods I am not at home on an Iron Lung...

I know that I am so blessed...

You would need a hybrid inverter and batteries to provide UPS functionality.

Thailand is better than most countries...

This is what I know...

From many years of living.

Solar is the best alternative. But one has to hit on a flawless company that does the installation and fully transparent on the regular maintenance costs of the pannels and the grid. But it's definately the best option in Thailand.

That is of course unless they soon start here to make solar grid owners pay a special tax as a penalty like Spain did (impuesto al sol" from 2015 to 2018 when abolished), for not using the regular electric suppliers...

I'm BACK....as of 10:35PM.....when power was restored.

But, for how long....

Nobody knows.

There is always a blessing in every cloud....

When the power went dead, the sudden loss of power sent my BIOS back to StoneHenge....

And so, I tinkered with my BIOS....something I love to tinker with....

And, I took this great opportunity to TURN OF numLOCK in the BIOS....something which, hitherto, I had been just too lazy to do before.

It's these niggling little things in the BIOS which just irritates one, until we get a REALLY GOOD POWER OUTAGE, which forces us to do what we should have done many years ago....

Thanks to PEA, I now have my NUMLOCK turned OFF in my BIOS.

So GRATEFUL, that you would not even believe....

I think you just have to look up at any power pole to see the answer to that question.

So you like DTAC, then? 😋

Actually I used to also but their service has been really scatty for me of late.

Of the op, likely a combo of heavy demand and storms.

In your case, even if the lights were on, still nobody is home.

But hey, send me your long outstanding electric bill and I'll pay it for you. Then they will turn your power back on immediately. But it's not going to help you any because you're still always going to be in the dark.

I should like to point out here that....

At the very root of our being, .....our living cells; and we ALL have them....

The fundamental parts that make us human.....

The STUDY OF THE CELL is, really, little else than....

The study of ENERGY.

Molecular Biology, AKA, Biochemistry, is.....really, ....

Nothing more than the study of the Cell and Energy which powers our Cells!!!!!

image.png.53a53da96a41976af02422dd1f9ee459.png

When you guys, here on TV, begin to study biochemistry....

Most of your time will be consumed with understanding of the energy-related mechanisms of the cells in your body.

Without POWER, the body will die.

Hopefully, PEA will keep this in mind, as nothing other than a poor metaphor.....
