Popular Post snoop1130 Posted June 19, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 19, 2024 Pattaya, known for its bustling nightlife, is apparently trying to shed its old skin and emerge as a beacon of transformation in Southeast Asia. Recent years have witnessed a remarkable overhaul aimed at elevating visitor experiences and community living standards. Key infrastructure upgrades are at the heart of this makeover. Underground installations of electrical and communication cables, revamped road surfaces, and improved water drainage systems not only enhance functionality but also add to the city’s aesthetic allure and cleanliness. Central to this transformation is the rejuvenation of Pattaya Beach, a focal point of the city’s charm. Ongoing projects have breathed new life into its shores, drawing praise from residents and tourists for its revitalised beauty. However, amidst the progress, challenges loom large. Issues like homelessness and begging underscore the need for ongoing social and urban development efforts to ensure Pattaya remains inclusive and attractive to all. Looking ahead, ambitious plans are in motion to introduce more green spaces and enhance transportation infrastructure. Proposals include expanding tree cover along Pattaya Beach for shade and introducing electric buses to improve urban mobility and sustainability, reported Pattaya Mail. Popular Post Mason45 Posted June 19, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 19, 2024 Before they have these ambitious brain farts they need to get the current problems fixed. I first hit Pattaya 25 years ago, it was a really fun place then but now it's the hub of money grabbing with little or no service. 4 7 5 4

Popular Post Swiss1960 Posted June 19, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 19, 2024 Underground installations of electrical and communication cables => work in progress, needs 10 more years evamped road surfaces => you joking, right? I see new holes after every rainfall... improved water drainage systems => yeah, right... flooding after every light rainfall is still the norm... rejuvenation of Pattaya Beach => more a destruction of everything that was good, like shades, parking... and beaches that get washed away with every rainfall... 4 6 1

ryandb Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Didn't they have this conversation literally 2 years ago making it a family destination after Covid I understand it's location to Bangkok makes it ideal, but how exactly are they going to change it's image, shift out the expats or the hookers? Why not invest in Hua Hin, or another stretch of beach south of Bangkok, yes it would cost more to build up from scratch but easier to actually make family friendly. 2

If they mean the beaches, they first need to solve the umbrella and chair mafia as well as the quickly eroding beaches they created. One storm is all it takes to wash their extended beach line away. People may give praise when they see what projects the city begins. But their praise does not last for long before those praises turn into complaints. 12 hours ago, snoop1130 said: However, amidst the progress, challenges loom large. They seem to be forgetting that Pattaya is only inclusive to the sex tourist. The only attractive are some of the younger bar girls. The costs to do anything in Pattaya other than drink or sit at the beach for free has skyrocketed unbelievably fast making their activities to do very expensive if you have more than one person with you. Western prices for cheap thrills is not a way to be attractive as well. Although they have some good attractions they do not meet up with eastern or western expectations. Anything theme related is old and not taken care of or repaired. My last trip to their virtual museum was pathetic. Bad graphics and nothing changed since I was there 10 years ago. 1 3

Honestly I'm not that familiar but I thought Hua Hin was more family friendly? But Yes if they went with Hua Hin, Pattaya's reputation is well known. And my knowledge shows that Hua Hin doesn't have that rep. Wherever tourists go the women/men in dresses will (Phuket has Patong, Samui has Chaweng etc.) unless the Police do something about it, and we all know that a few baht will buy them off. The best option would be investing in building out a brand new area with real investment where the government would have a reason to at least maintain it for 10 years for show 1 3

This is all from posts here, I never visit, put off years ago. 1 2
kevozman1 Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 I have been hearing similar things for 15+ years, although 'premiere SEA destination' is a new one I believe. I almost spat my coffee out. I will say that I hope they clean up the place and the 'mini Pattayas' that exist across many tourist areas. Also the full moon party degeneracy. 1
