Why can't we block them?

Why can't we block some posters completely? Yes, we can block them but still see the comments they post to other posters in response why can't that be changed?

Then don't put your private life on a public forum.

There are many posters on here who posting made up stories I do not mind I love about it, but some posters are really nasty and interfere with your private life

Yes, I agree too.

I believe you got that wrong.

Making an example, using fictive memer names (shown in italics) instead of pronouns, when you block AlphaBravo you no longer see the comments AlphaBravo posts to ChalieDelta in response.

These trolls/AI bots/forum shills/mentally ill posters etc are really only present in the 'chat' sub-forums, (well, perhaps also the political forum).  I see no chat bots in the Health forum or Education forums etc, most of which provide useful, factual information. Ring-fence the chat forums, stick to the factual forums and you'll get less stressed.

Nobody knows you. They cannot interfere with your private life.

Read the OP's topics and you will work it out.

I have stopped looking at postings from all of the plethora of recent newbies.

Many post a nonsense thread and joined yesterday, last week, this month etc.

I look at 'joined date' before I read now.

Those posters can cause bad feeling, which could actually be their intent. Possibly they revel in being hostile and irreverent too.

Agreed..   but its an anonymous forum...    People will only get 'on your nerves' to the extent that you allow them to.

If I have the time, I might engage in a little verbal sparring and having a dig back... or I'll just ignore them...

So prolific trollers are on Block...  sometimes I'll view their post anyway and will see exactly why I blocked their 'content targeting me and troll' was blocked in the first place...  I won't respond at all to these fool.

If someone is getting up your nose - the worst thing to do is to give them oxygen - but sometimes the debates are amusing or interesting... sometimes a different perspective, no matter how much we disagree is good for us.

Some posters are ridiculously thin skinned though and turn any discussion which which we disagree either verbally abusive, or they cry abuse because they dislike the language used in a response...

Then sometimes, people are outright idiots, bigots, racists, misogynists, liars etc...   they get called out by many, its good to see others call them out too.

But, ultimately, if you don't like a post - its easy enough just to scan over it to the next one than allowing yourself to get drawn in.

People who brag about their life and give out details are probably looking for attention.

Or perhaps this site shouldn't tolerate it to begin with in the name of trying to get more clicks.  Disallowing all foreign political discussions would be a good start.

Those topics you can avoid. Like a TV channel don't watch it.

That demonstrates a lack of understanding of the actual problem.  It would be like telling people to stop being influenced by social media.  That's not how it works.  The toxicity spills over from toxic categories to pollute everything else.

Also, your analogy to channels is completely wrong. This is an online news site and pseudo social media site, not a TV service.

The class-clown...  likeable, harmless, fun...  and bringing colour to the forum...

they will never get blocked. They are the only posters generating interest on the forum and receive hundreds of responses per thread.

Without them the forum would be filled with the death rattle of dying expats.

How much do you pay to access this online news site?

There's a clue.
