The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that Thailand will waive visa requirements for tourists from 93 countries starting July 15, 2024, in an effort to boost tourism and ease travel restrictions.

 

This expansion, up from the current 57 countries, was announced by Traisulee Traisoranakul, secretary to the Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, on Friday.

 

The new regulation will allow visitors to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa. Additionally, the number of countries and territories whose citizens require a visa upon arrival will increase from 19 to 31.

 

In a further move to attract skilled workers, a new “workcation” visa called the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) will be introduced. This visa will permit qualified foreign professionals to stay and work in Thailand for up to 180 days at a time.

 

The new visa measures, which are awaiting Cabinet approval, are expected to be a formality, according to Traisulee.

Is this now 100% confirmed that travelers who enter on July 15 will get 60 days visa exempt?

Yippee ki yaay,  let's open the gates wider for all the less desirables to flow in. 

 

Give it a few months and await the about turn on this one.

So which is it - this is officially confirmed to be starting in three days, or it's still awaiting approval? And if the cabinet hasn't approved it yet, presumably it hasn't been gazetted either...?

Oh wait.....this is the policy commencing July 15. The next policy, commencing July 16, could be a total ban on all tourism.

Would like to see DTV, and Retirement Visas need to show 1m or more THB in bank plus adequate health insurance. Totally in favour of Thailand trying to make it easier for tourists to stay longer, but there should be a check to make sure they have the resources to finance it.

Yet retirees are still jumping through ever more bureaucratic hoops, and doing 90 day reports.

Well this is going to be fun!

Still no news on this DTV digital nomad visa, where are the requirements, conditions?

I think is kind of funny, they make visas up to 60 days so people potentially will stay long term on tourist visas, just need 6 border runs isnt it? Then after stop people as me at the airport for "too many stamps" and "get a long term visa". All no sense. They make the rules to have people stay long term on tourist visas...

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has reviewed and signed all four announcements. They are now in the process of being presented to the Prime Minister for signing. After that, they will be published in the Royal Gazette, and all announcements will take effect from July 15, 2024, onwards.

 

So the Prime Minister is the last guy to sign the announcements, so to my understanding travelers should receive 60 days visa exempt by July 15 and onwards.

The nation has already waived any requirements for Russians, so they might as well waive them for everyone else. They couldn't really do worse than inviting in an unlimited number of Russians, knowing that a huge percentage of them who can afford to travel are involved in crime, and that they will continue their criminal activities here, and likely degrade the nation in the process.

 

It is a spectacularly huge error in judgment to not carefully screen every single Russian that arrives. 

This will undoubtedly culminate in record cases of overstays. Immigration cops are going to be busy. 
Not sure Thailand is going to benefit positively from this but the dollar is king.

Unless of course your skill is on the Thai only list. .......init. Imagine Foreign driving instructors and examiners being allowed, Mechanics that know what they are doing, yearly vehicle checks, Electricians......

And the countries are  Alaska, Vanutu, South Pole, Mongolia, Andorra, Vatican City, Monaco, Ivory Coast, etc.... countries 10 tourists a year

That is  quicker than the Gay Marriage Law.... That will take at least anothe 3 months before signed and than another 4 months before you can marry

More likely some collective punishment new regulations due to the fact that many are overstaying/working.

No still has to pass cabinet and if I am not mistaken have to be voted on.
