Popular Post georgegeorgia Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 This is not really for expats in Asia but I was watching YouTube seeing protestors against the immigration in the UK being bashed with shields even elderly men. I see people shouting out scum etc to to police I saw it in Australia too during Covid where police were bashing and manhandling protesters I was once walking home from work , in 2021 in Australia in the middle of a Covid protest. I saw a old cop with his back turned standing in front of a raised garden bed Suddenly a protestor pushed him into the garden bed arse over. I stood there and lauged at the old cop as he lay face down in mud 😅 Are we in the Western Countries turning against the police ? British police in particular seem to be government ass lickers ! 2 2 8 2

I feel sorry for the commuters, trying desperately to get to their place of employment, to earn money to feed their children. I like to watch the YouTube videos where these protestors are manhandled, beaten and drag off the road by their hair. 😂 1 4 2 1 1

Popular Post Gandtee Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 I don't hate the police. I feel sorry for them at the sharp end, having to carry out the politically correct orders from the top brass. And for the type of training that they seem to be given now. Many of them seem to be straight out of college. In my day many policemen were ex-military and behaved as such. You didn't argue or get into a political discussion. It was a whack around the back of your head and "It's Bow Street for you my lad." 2 5 1
mfd101 Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Just like the politicians that WE elect to run the country, so in Western democracies we employ the police to do the jobs that need doing but that we don't want to do and are incapable of doing. In both cases - politicians & police - we then spend a great deal of time whining and grizzling about them, accusing them of being corrupt and incompetent. In which case why did we elect THOSE particular people? and why don't WE try doing the cops' jobs instead? 2

Because those people are (supposedly) trained and paid professionals to handle these situations. What struck me about the fracas at Manchester airport was when the second video emerged of the original confrontation - the perps were clearly not trained fighters and yet the police, despite outnumbering them, simply coluld not handle the situation and that is why it got out of hand.

I thought trained fighters were army folk. No cop wants to go fighting for work, except maybe the specialists.... 1
Popular Post phetphet Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 Only thing worse than a cop is a cop wearing a "Thin Blue Line" gang badge. UK police are fast turning into their US brethren. 3 1

No, they are not supposed to get into a punch-up but they would be expected (by me) to be able to handle violent offenders - especially the airport police, I would have thought. 2 1

Popular Post BritManToo Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 3 minutes ago, transam said: You would know, you tell us you are still wanted......... Nah, they had lost interest in me by 2016, when I was last in the UK. My complaints about them back in 2010 cost £120,000 out of their budget, and they left me well alone after that. Like most bullies, easily frightened off. 3 1 1 1
Popular Post daveAustin Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 Nope. They've got a crap job nowadays, esp in the UK which is a right old mess regards unwanted immigration (typically caused from past governments--Blair!). Many of those cops probably agree with the protesters but their hands are tied. And the MSM (you, BBC) has a tendency to show the dastardly deeds of the local 'mobs' while conveniently keeping quiet on the huge gangs of Gazans/muslims stirring up trouble. 2 1 2 2 2
KhunLA Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 No, that's silly. There job sucks, usually. Especially now, as everything they do is scrutinized. Known too many days past, family especially & friends that served as PoPo. Have at least 1 nephew here that is PoPo. Also been at the hands of A-hole cops, and very few are in reality. My experience anyway. 1
Popular Post Baht Simpson Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 They have a hard job but at least they're prepared to put their arses on the line. 4
Popular Post Lacessit Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 I have respect for the police. They are in a job where they are dealing with the lowest form of pond life, day in day out, with little thanks for it. As is shown by some of the posts on this thread. 5 1 1
Popular Post save the frogs Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 There are some corrupt police. In some countries, this is caused by low salaries. I even watched an interview with a NYC cop who started getting involved in drugs. But even the NYC cops weren't paid much several decades ago. Not sure about now. I watch police bodycam videos on Youtube. The police have to deal with very scary situations, being shot at and sometimes killed. It takes a special kind of human being to do that kind of job. They are "freaks" and risking their lives for a paycheck. Most of us are sitting behind computers all day. And complaining? You'd be dead without the police protecting you. 6 1
georgegeorgia Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 Just read that the Police Force in Western Australia has recruited 500 ex UK police ... The reason why is because no one wants the job to ass lick the Australian Government except the British ,can't wait to see their faces when they are in the outback drunken towns dealing with a certain community 😅 1 1 1

The old cop I saw who got pushed arse over into the muddy garden bed probably took a year off work on compensation, probably got his brother to push him 😂 In Australia and UK they are lackeys of the Government, Brutalising elderly Australians who were protesting against Covid restrictions. Using the riot squad to brutalise and manhandle Australians . But hey the Palestinian marchers are ok Risking their lives?😄 Hardly ,they turn up 1 hour after everything is finished The quality I have seen is shocking especially in the UK , unfit old looking ,big bellies , obviously no fitness test in the UK 1 3
Popular Post sirineou Posted August 4, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2024 I like them. They has some catchy tunes in the '80s 8
