Following the Constitutional Court’s decision to remove Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from office on August 14, the suspension of the government’s digital wallet initiative has sparked concern among workers in Pattaya’s nightlife sector. The uncertainty surrounding the program has left many anxious about the future of the local economy.

Kanitsorn Bodipong, a 52-year-old bar worker in Pattaya, expressed her frustration with the complicated registration process and the unclear status of her application. “I feel like I’ve been misled,” she said, voicing her concern about the current economic situation. Despite these challenges, she remains hopeful that the promised funds will help her manage daily expenses amid the on-going downturn.

A 52 year old bar worker?

"Current downturn"?

It sounds like this lady hasn't managed to save any money, and considers the current Low Season to be a permanent situation in Pattaya.

Anyone counting on the Digital Wallet to give them free money was an optimist.

Even though I agree the 10,000 baht giveaway was a vote buyer, people still see it as free money. If Pheu Thai ends it there will be an outcry.

A message to the Bar Girls

MONEY DOESN'T GROW ON TREES!

If you want more then stop lazing about in the bars, put your phones down, get off your backsides and make it!!

How do you see them doing this?

I don't have to say how they will do it, but it's clear they want this new govt to stay in place, removal of ex PM was all part of the bigger plan

Miscounting the votes or padding the postal votes is the way most countries fix it.

The bar girls *have* money. The problem is that they blow it, either on slots (smartphone gambling) or young money boys.

Do you think things could go the same way as Myanmar?

Don't think anything in Thailand will change for us.

All the big nobs hate foreigners.

Similarly as to how things are playing out this time. The party that got the most votes doesn't even exist any more and those elected are in a minor  opposition.  How the upper house gets elected may be the only improvement.
