A shocking double murder occurred in Mae Sot, on September 2, when a 24 year old Myanmar national, identified as Joe, brutally killed his 13 year old girlfriend  and her father after she announced their breakup on Facebook

Police, led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Samrit Aemkamon, Commander of Tak Provincial Police, and Pol. Col. Phitthayakorn Phetcharat, Superintendent of Mae Sot Police Station, arrested the suspect within three hours of the incident. The arrest was made at a local house, where Joe was hiding.

The incident took place near a makeshift shelter close to King Taksin's Park in Phra That Phadaeng Subdistrict, Mae Sot. Joe confessed to the crime and cooperated with the police during the crime scene reconstruction, which took place amidst concerns for his safety as a crowd of Myanmar nationals gathered to watch.

The victims were identified as Maung A, a 55 year old Myanmar national and a 13 year old girl known as Kaimook or Dao, who was in a relationship with Joe. Both victims were severely wounded with sharp objects, sustaining fatal injuries to the head and arms. They were rushed to Mae Sot Hospital by a good Samaritan but were pronounced dead shortly after.

Witnesses reported that Joe, enraged after seeing the Facebook post by Kaimook announcing their breakup, went to confront her. However, upon arrival, Maung A intervened and prevented Joe from meeting with Kaimook, leading to a violent altercation. Joe claimed that he acted in self-defense after being attacked by Maung A.

Joe is now facing charges of murder and illegal residence in Thailand. He has been handed over to Mae Sot Police Station for further legal action.

Prior to the incident, Kaimook had posted on Facebook that she had broken up with Joe, which is believed to have triggered the tragic events.

A 24 year old guy with 13 year old girl.

That is just sick.

Statutory rape in there surely.

24 year old and doing a 13 year old. They really have no intention of growing up to be men.

surprisingly acceptable in the rural areas.

Add 10 years to both (34 & 23) and nobody worries anymore.
