Man Shot Dead at Home, Police Collect DNA Samples from Wife and Son for Investigation
Picture of the investigation team at the scene. A 53-year-old man was shot dead at his home in Cha-am District, Phetchaburi, late on the night of 14 September. Police have collected DNA samples from his wife and son as part of their investigation. At around 22:00, Pol. Lt. Suphasin Wittinanon, from Cha-am Police Station, received a report of a shooting at a residence in Moo 6, Rai Mai Pattana Subdistrict, Cha-am. Pol. Col. Somkiat Chomchai, the chief of Cha-am Police, was informed and officers, along with forensic experts from Phetchaburi, were dispatched to the scene. The incident occurred at a one-story house situated in the middle of a large pineapple plantation. The body of Mr. Sanit (surname withheld), 53, was found near the back door of the house, lying in a pool of blood. He was wearing only a sarong and had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his left temple, left shoulder, and left arm. The caliber of the gun used remains unknown. Ms. Pim Suksanan (surname withheld), 52, the victim's wife, told police that on the evening of 14 September, Mr. Sanit had been preparing to take a shower at the back of the house. As she sat inside, she suddenly heard what sounded like gunshots coming from outside. She rushed to the back and found her husband lying motionless on the ground. Terrified that the shooter might still be nearby, she hid under the bed for approximately an hour before coming out. Too shaken to drive her motorcycle, Ms. Pim walked roughly two kilometres to seek help from Mr. Chumpol (surname withheld), 34, a resident of Hua Hin and her son from a previous relationship. Together, they returned to the house and notified the police of the incident. Initial investigations revealed that the victim was known to be a quiet man who had no known disputes with anyone in the area. Police have questioned neighbours and collected gunshot residue samples from the crime scene. DNA samples from both the wife and her son have been taken for further examination. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are working to identify the perpetrator. Legal proceedings will follow as the case develops. -- 2024-09-16 -

Wife transfers from dependent visa to Retirement Visa in case I pass away before her.
Check with your immigration office, similar scenario is if your Thai wife dies and you are on an extension based on marriage, most offices will let you stay on that extension and then find a new way to stay when it expires. I can think of no reason why on your demise immigration would not let your wife just change the reason for her extension from dependent to retirement. -

Authorities Raid Pattaya Club: Foreigners & Thai Women Found Partying with Alcohol & Drugs
Picture from the raid. In a raid at a popular cannabis club in South Pattaya, authorities uncovered a gathering of around 50 people, including foreign tourists and Thai women, engaging in alleged illicit activities. The raid took place at 22:40 on September 14, after police received a tip-off about potential drug use at a party in the club, located in Soi 6, Khao Phra Tamnak. The raid, led by Pol. Col. Napaspong Khositsuriyamanee from the Chonburi Immigration Office, in collaboration with Pattaya Tourism Police, found the group drinking alcohol, smoking cannabis, and dancing to DJ music. As officers moved in, the party was brought to an abrupt halt. One Thai woman, who claimed to be the club's manager, reacted angrily, demanding a search warrant. However, her protests were silenced when officers discovered a suspicious white powder, believed to be ketamine, hidden in a plastic bag. Authorities then proceeded to check passports and identification cards, ensuring no foreign tourists had overstayed their visas. Drug tests were also conducted on all individuals present at the scene. Among those arrested was David, a 41-year-old Canadian DJ working illegally without a work permit. Additionally, Zico, a 23-year-old British tourist, was found carrying a knife, and Suwan, a 26-year-old Thai woman, who owned the club, was apprehended for employing Daniel, a 32-year-old British man working without a permit. During the arrests, Zico attempted to flee the scene, running past officers and escaping the club. A chase ensued, with police apprehending him 800 metres away, hiding in a banana grove. He was promptly taken into custody. All those arrested were taken to the Chonburi Immigration office for further questioning, with legal charges to follow. The investigation is ongoing, and those involved will face legal proceedings at Pattaya City Police Station -- 2024-09-16 -
