Man Jailed for Killing Siberian Husky Over Chicken Incident
Picture from CCTV. A man has been sentenced to two months in prison for fatally beating a three-year-old Siberian Husky named Lucky, belonging to a neighbour, before discarding the dog's body into the sea. The incident occurred after the dog allegedly attacked the man's chickens. On 28 January, the Songkhla Provincial Court delivered its verdict in a case brought by the public prosecutor. The defendant, Mr Boonlert, was charged with animal cruelty under the Prevention of Cruelty and Animal Welfare Act 2014, as well as causing property damage under the Criminal Code. The incident dates back to 6 December 2024, when Lucky, a female Husky, reportedly wandered into Mr Boonlert's property and killed several of his chickens. Enraged, he used a wooden stick to strike the dog repeatedly, killing it on the street, before throwing its body into the sea. During the trial, Mr Boonlert pleaded guilty to all charges. The court found him guilty of causing property damage under Section 358 of the Criminal Code, which carried the harshest penalty among the charges. The original sentence of four months' imprisonment was reduced by half to two months due to the defendant's confession, which was considered a mitigating factor under Section 78 of the Criminal Code. The court reviewed a probation officer's report on Mr Boonlert and determined there were no grounds to suspend the sentence. As a result, the defendant was ordered to serve two months in prison. It was reported that Mr Boonlert did not apply for bail or submit any assets to secure his release pending appeal. Related article; -- 2025-01-29 -

I'm unfamiliar with the method of soaking rolled oats. Do you cook the oats after soaking? I generally prepare my oats as porridge for breakfast, adding ground Turmeric, Sweet Cinnamon and Ginger. -

Blaze Claims Lives of Family of 3 in Buriram Shop Fire
Picture from responders. In an incident that unfolded late night on 27 January, a shop fire in the Kha Sang district of Buriram resulted in the tragic deaths of three family members, leaving the community in mourning. The victims, identified as 44-year-old Mr. Jamrong, 45-year-old Mrs. Kittima, and their one-year-old son, Kittisak, were discovered huddled together in their home after the fire destroyed the building. The fire broke out around midnight, engulfing the shop quickly. Rescuers arrived on the scene to find the family’s bodies in a heart-wrenching embrace, highlighting the devastating impact of the blaze. Ms. Somsri, a 41-year-old assistant village chief, revealed that just days before the fire, Mrs. Kittima had shared a troubling message from her husband. He allegedly requested forgiveness from his wife and child, raising concerns and questions surrounding the events leading to the inferno. While community members speculate about the nature of the fire, including whether it could be linked to domestic strife, Ms. Somsri has urged caution. "I’m not certain of anything just yet," she stated. "We must await the official investigation by the police and forensic team to uncover the truth." As the community grapples with this devastating loss, authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to determine its cause and any potential foul play. -- 2025-01-29
