Popular Post snoop1130 Posted September 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2024 A Thai woman took to social media in a bid to search for a reckless foreign man who crashed his pickup into her in Phuket and fled the scene. The Thai victim, whose name remains undisclosed, shared details of the accident with the Phuket Times today, September 12. She stated that the incident occurred a few days ago, but the police were still unable to track down the foreign suspect. The victim explained that she was riding her motorcycle behind the foreign man’s pickup on Bang Niao Road. She saw the foreign man indicate a left turn and slowly move to the left to change lanes, so she moved ahead into an empty space on the pickup’s right side. Unexpectedly, the pickup driver veered back to the right and hit the victim’s motorcycle, causing her to fall onto the road. She sustained injuries to her chin, both arms, hands, and feet. The foreign driver initially came over to check on her but did not offer any help and later fled the scene. The victim stated that the foreigner did not take responsibility for the accident and she has not received any updates from the police. Many Thai netizens condemned the foreign man, as well as other foreign motorists in Phuket, for their reckless driving and poor behaviour on the roads. Some also criticised the Thai police for focusing more on cases involving foreigners than on those involving Thais. “I drive every day and encounter foreign motorists with terrible driving skills every day as well. Sorry for being rude but these foreigners even dare to complain to me on the road when they are actually in the wrong.” “If a Thai person hit a foreigner, they would be hunted down and punished.” “The pickup didn’t even have a registration plate. Why haven’t the police arrested him? There are many cars in Phuket without registration plates.” “A lot of awful foreign motorists are in the Rawai area. They ignore red lights and have almost hit me and my son several times. The police should take this matter seriously and arrest these illegal motorists.” “Some foreigners have never driven a car in their lives and use Phuket’s public roads for training.” As of now, there has been no update from the relevant police officers regarding the identity of the foreign suspect. Popular Post terryq Posted September 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2024 Not something I would be caught out doing. When I see somebody indicating a left turn I expect them to move to the right before executing the turn as I assume that they are making the turning radius larger. The pickup driver was in the wrong (IMHO) but she should have hung back or given more space on the right. 1 6 3 13

Have you seen Thai's drive?? Quote Some foreigners have never driven a car in their lives and use Phuket’s public roads for training yeah right, it is Thais who have never driven car before. Seen this idiotic behavior many times, shift right a bit before turning left like they are driving a moto but not needed with a 4 wheeler. Or driving straight through a crossing with any blinker on. Or turning left with right blinker on. They are gods at driving moto but car skills are seriously lacking. 1 1 1 4

Correct, that is why even In Thailand education/training One can not over or undertake 100-150M. from a intersection.

Popular Post Ironmike Posted September 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 13, 2024 I've lived in Rawai for the past 22 years and there are many people everyday breaking the road rules and to be honest most are Farangs, but this is not news because most of the thais that cause accidents run away from it and show up later with a basket of crap asking for forgiveness and the coppers don't care, you never see the police pulling over the thais riding without helmut, driving down the wrong side of the road or the famous 3 wheelers that are illegal and most have no lights on at night,, nope this is news because it's a Farang. 7
Popular Post Sydebolle Posted September 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 13, 2024 "Many Thai netizens condemned the foreign man, as well as other foreign motorists in Phuket, for their reckless driving and poor behaviour on the roads." My advice is to hunt all of them down and throw them into the slammer. Alternatively fine them for as much money as they have and then throw them all out of the country and your island is free of those pesky foreigners. "Some also criticised the Thai police for focusing more on cases involving foreigners than on those involving Thais." Yes, that makes sense as well, as foreigners are so endlessly rich, cannot read Thai and in many cases are not familiar with all the unwritten laws and regulations of the land of the semi-divine. This allows the boys in brown to ransack the financial abilities of the - actually unwanted but accepted for financial reasons - foreigners. Thailand, populated by many foreign-hating racists and covering up an inferiority complex over anything foreign, higher or better than .... the holy land! 1 1 3
Popular Post stevenl Posted September 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 13, 2024 I do agree with the thais to a certain extend. The nmax, tmax and other max's we see a lot of these days are driving like idiots and are mainly driven by farang. 1 2
Popular Post MalcolmB Posted September 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 13, 2024 He had probably had a few so drove off. Likely no license, no insurance. Foreigners are the worst on the roads, especially on motorbikes, half of them ride around with their indicators on while not turning, the other half looking at their phones for directions. I hope the scars to the girls face heal and she recovers financially. 4 2 1 2

renaissanc Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Some posters are complicating this. If you hit another vehicle, you stop and take responsibility or at least find out what exactly happened and who was in the wrong. But you don't do a runner. When you die and have your life review, you will discover the effect this had on the person hit and on your soul. (Atheists, ignore this last sentence.)
Popular Post recom273 Posted September 13, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 13, 2024 I had an accident once (whilst riding a bike) would probably go as far to say I caused it, but the other bike wasn’t paying attention to the road, it’s probably something that happens to you a hundred times a day and you just avoid it, but this woman dropped her bike. The police were on the scene within seconds, I put my hands up and said, I will make things right - the woman’s family turned up and started needlessly shouting and pointing and getting in my face, the police did nothing but to try and extort cash from me on behalf of the woman, three ambulances showed up for a tiny cut. Things got so out of control and I worried for my safety. After the experience I made a decision that should anything happen like this in the future, I perhaps wouldn’t behave like I would in the UK, that I wouldn't immediately stop and admit liability but would possibly assess the situation and maybe flee. I’m not trying to be the guy that says “I wouldn’t stop at an accident” but the whole thing was a mess, it really demonstrated how things can go wrong here within a short time. 1 1 5
