Some years ago I opined that London was not really an English city any more Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation So there must be some truth in it... I note also that London was the UK city that voted most strongly to remain in the EU

...and he opined all this from Nevis in the West Indies.....oh the irony.

Yes I remember LBJ.

Because of his twisted policies my county restarted conscription but very strongly opposed for many years and I went to the war in Sth. Vietnam.

Now receiving a hefty lifetime disability compensation payment which cancels when I die.

So you didn't have any debilitating bone spurs like Trump, who would have jumped at the chance of serving if it weren't for his serious medical condition.

A great shame he couldn't go, we see how appreciative he is of people who have been wounded, captured or killed!

No evidence for the dog story. More for taking the wild fowl from the parks. And even more for the damage to the community caused by the Biden-Harris administration settling 15-20,000 migrants in such a small community.  That is the real story.

The current administration did not "settle" 15-20,000 migrants in Springfield. The migrants went there of their own accord because there were local industries and businesses that had vacancies and needed workers.

Recent and longstanding immigrants said family and social networks, word-of-mouth, and the quest for higher wages and lower living costs helped draw people to Springfield.

Contrary to how some might like to portray it, local business leaders were (and are) actually happy to see them there, to provide the workers they need.

"We needed a workforce," to fill jobs in a resurgent local manufacturing sector and staff a growing number of warehouse and distribution centers, said Amy Donahoe, director of workforce development with the Greater Springfield Partnership. "They are coming in and they are working hard and they want to make money."

Or ol' Joe, who could have foregone any of his five years of student deferment to serve his country. But somehow chose not to...

Not the same as faking a disability!

And that was correct. She won the vote by a margin of millions. Unfortunately, the US is not a proper representative democracy in that votes don't count the same all over the country.

Hopefully, that will be corrected soon.

Not this old excuse again, winning the popular vote does not always elect a president

The article also notes the huge growth in social services, welfare etc being used. Also health care and education being overwhelmed. And housing being priced out of reach of residents.

Of course business leaders were happy to see them- a compliant workforce they could exploit for low wages that the residents would not accept.

Yeah, that nasty asthma that Joe's doctor said he had ten years before...  I am sure totally legit.  Be honest, both avoided the war by student deferments as long as they could. Either could have volunteered for service at any time, but chose not to.

Uh, no it doesn't, and that was kind of the point.

BTW, that beacon of unlimited free speech, Musk, has bent over and accepted whatever the good Brazilian judge wants to give him.😁

It must be so reassuring for you MAGA guys that have such a principled standard bearer on your side, am I right?

the name of the person the posted the link is nothing to do with the content, if you had bothered to look you would have seen it was video clips of  Trump & Harris at different speaking events, both being asked the same question by an audience member, there is a stark difference between both answers.  1 gave an answer, 1 avoided giving an answer.

Great, out-of-context clips posted on Twitter used as an argument. Totally convincing.

Can you post your source for the claim that Biden/Harris settled the 15 to 20k Haitians in Springfield? I don't think it exists as it false information you keep spreading. At least quote real facts and not made up bs

Your deflecting from facts and trying to spin the issue you originally posted.

In other words, solid GOP policies being followed and you criticize this - strange. Are you saying that unions should get involved to stop the exploitation?
This might come as a shock but Trump and his wealthy brown-noser fanboy are not exactly worker friendly, unlike you.

No evidence that his asthma wasn't legit and also that deferment stipulated he would still be called in an emergency. The question isn't about not wanting to go it's  about Trump's corruption.

So once again you try to conflate Biden's 1-Y deferment with Trumps 1-Y deferment in an attempt to suggest Biden was also a draft dodger.
Forget the student deferments, and just stick to the medical issue.

Biden released his medical history and this has been reviewed by medical professionals, who can confirm that, like Dick Cheney, he had legitimate grounds for deferral.

Now in Trumps case, he seized his medical records and has refused to release any a-rays to support his claim of spurs. The podiatrist Dr Braunstein, who diagnosed Trump with bone spurs as a favour to Fred Trump so Donald could avoid the draft for the Vietnam War, claims that he didn't even examine Trump, so there is a good chance there are no x-rays. Like his scholastic records, Trump wants to make sure that that none of his personal files become public, (like tax returns), that will prove his lies.

Precis:
Biden has asthma.
Trump has a yellow streak.

right. does it really matter which way either of them dodged the war. they both dodged it.

So you equate legitimate student deferments with illegally falsifying medical reports ?

Ok.

Both used legitimate student deferments. Both, at any time, could have chosen NOT to use their student deferments and volunteered to go to Vietnam. Both used their student deferments as long as possible and then washed out for medical reasons. One was an asthmatic lifeguard, the other a bone spur plagued baseball player.

Let's put this 50 year old meme to rest, shall we?

Trump was plagued, just not by spurs.

I guess you are too young to know what Marxist policies are : I worked in China from 1972 to 1974 (Mao was still in power) and in Vietnam from 1981 to 1984 and what I experienced is really something different than some social-democrat policies of the Dem's.

Agreed. And also: it's a contradiction in itself to combine Democrats (in a democratic country) with Marxists or Marxism.

Wasn't me. It was another poster, Interpland (sp) who started it with a snide comment about Trump and his bone spurs.  You are scolding the wrong person.

Not scolding anyone. I was highlighting the fact that as soon as someone has a go at Trump and his bone spurs, you start on about "asthma joe", as I think you called him last time, to try and conflate the two.
There is no equivalency.

Yeah, there is. Both could have volunteered to serve. Both declined.

Here we go again. Its not about whether they could have volunteered or not.

One had a medical exemption.
One lied.

Nothing will change that.
