"Almost" 200 grams of gold. Sure.

Can you imagine, for a moment, the apoplectic outrage on the Right if Kamala Harris was hawking fake watches? Or silver coins? Or NFTs? Or Digital Trading Cards? Or BitCoin?

And its's also a fraud: 200 grams of 18k gold cost around $13,000. One hundred diamonds priced from $10 to $30 each, $2,000. The Olivier Mory Tourbillon movement $1,200-$1,800. Add $2,000 of other components and assembly (and I am generous), and you have a $18,000-$19,000 USD sold for $100,000.

No, it is not a fraud.  Selling an item with a mark up is perfectly normal, legal practice.

If Harris started a grifter watch business now and also a grifter Crypto business now, everyone would be saying that is insane and disqualifying and it would instantly ruin her chances to win. But yet the public and the press somehow accepts continued totaly INSANITY from Trump with new examples coming up daily.

Explain.

"If Harris started a grifter watch business now and also a grifter Crypto business now, everyone would be saying that is insane and disqualifying..."

Would they?  Explain how that is factual.

Bizarre that anyone would question that.

Actually, if the casing was made out of tungsten, then gold - plated, it would be difficult to detect without either destroying the watch, or using some very expensive spectroscopic equipment.

I understand a few gold shops in Thailand have been stung with fake bullion.

Based on current gold prices, the profit on those $100K watches is at least $60 K. The diamonds are so small they are as common as dog droppings.

There's devices you can use to check and they'll tell you immediately whether it's solid gold, gold filled or gold plated. It's definitely a rip-off. Plus they're as fugly as the night is dark and you can get watches with a lot more complications for the same money, plus he's an idiot. I wouldn't even wear one of those to go take a dump in the woods.
