If cost is not a consideration, you would not have them done in Thailand.

Elite Smile at Pantip Plaza did three for me, which are still going strong after ten years. They have state of the art equipment, and use the best materials.

 

IIRC it cost me 55,000 baht back then per implant, including a bone graft.

 

Unfortunately they have moved from Pantip, I don't know where they are in CM now.

Sorry I don’t know when.

Dr. Pawak at Kitcha Dental has done a number for me. I originally went to him, several years ago, after my previous dentist, at Ram, had told me that an implant in a particular location was impossible because of the small amount of bone left. He explained clearly how it could be done successfully. The implant has lasted well with no problems. He has since done others for me. Prices are higher than elsewhere, but I have trust in him, which is important

Years ago, I did see that clinic while walking around.

With this in mind, the owner of Dental World , I think, is an implant specialist. 
 

Also Dental 4 U is owned by an implant specialist, I think. 
 

My suggestion is make an appointment with such a doctor, feel them out for how your questions are answered, look the shop over, etc. An initial appointment is so cheap.

Nobody needs the very best of any medical profession at this level, Thailand has lots of very skilled dentists. If you were having brain surgery, by all means go find the very best. Same with cataract surgeons, posters say they're looking for the best Opthamologist in Thailand to take care of their cataracts. Cataract surgery is 20 minutes, it's done millions of time a day around the world, often in less than ideal circumstances. Same with fillings, root canals and implants, goodness me!

I have had very good endo work here, for sure.

But, I really know very little about implant surgery, bone grafting, etc.

So, this is why I am asking.

 

Whether or not all dental surgery care is the same in Chiang Mai, without regard to training of the oral surgeon, this I also do not know.

 

I would prefer to have a dentist trained at some one or more of the better schools in the US, i guess.

 

Some school like Tufts or similar, maybe.

 

Also, not all dental surgeons are equally painless, or Endodontists I mean to say. Some are much better than others, and more skilled.

 

I wold say...it never hurts to choose the best available in one's local area...but I would never go to BKK...for something as simple.

You can have an implant done here using Chinese bone graft material, and over the space of a month.

 

Or you can have one done over three months, using premium Swiss bone graft material.

 

Guess which one has a failure rate of less than 5%, and which one fails 30-40% of the time?

I will go with the 10-month cure....probably.

When I was in Hong Kong, I found my palate had been so modified by Thai food the Chinese offerings were bland in comparison.

Personally, I would skip CM (and everywhere else in Thailand) for an implant and have it done at a top facility in Bkk (can't name it). I am quite familiar with both locations as well having lived in each.

 

More expensive places seem to attract better doctors.

I tend to judge any medical or dental facility by the age of the equipment it has.

 

Such equipment does not come cheap. A high end CAT scanner can be north of $2 million.

 

IMO doctors and dentists can only be as good as their equipment.

If cost isn't a consideration, fly back and have it done in the US.

Chiang Mai Ram has its own dental clinic have never used but it but would be surprised if the standard is any less than the hospital which is excellent and myself and family have visited for years

I have had dental work including crowns carried out in Thailand for about 14 years the standard is as good as my home country Australia and the work carried out in the UK for the few years I worked there.

The only difference being that the female dentists here are better looking.

That depends on the type of bone graft. We had a dentist on this forum who claimed most bone grafts are a waste of money because they fail to integrate well. When I had my implants done all but one dentist recommended a bone graft. Two recommended a sinus lift, the third a major bone graft that would have taken eight months.

I also think the female dentists are ....Just BETTER and better skilled, and less pain-inducing that their male counterparts.  I despise male dentists, now, after coming to Thailand!!!!
