A 55-year-old Scottish tourist, Ms. Henderson, experienced a severe reaction after consuming an excessive amount of cannabis, leading to a public disturbance that required police intervention. The incident took place at a resort on Jomtien Beach Road in Chonburi on October 12, after hotel staff were unable to control the situation and called for assistance.

At 12:40, Pol. Lt. Sontaya Khonsap, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, responded to the call. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Ms. Henderson in a state of extreme fear, crying and shaking inside her room, which was left in disarray. A jar of cannabis flowers, paraphernalia for smoking, and prescription medication were discovered in the room. Officers attempted to calm her down and escort her to the hotel reception area, but her behavior quickly escalated.

According to a Danish man, who had been friends with Ms. Henderson for over 15 years, they had been in Pattaya for just two days to enjoy their retirement. The previous day, Ms. Henderson purchased cannabis to smoke, after which she began exhibiting unusual behaviour. She became paranoid, fearing that someone was out to harm her, and isolated herself in her room. Concerned for her safety, her friend alerted hotel staff, who then contacted the police for help.

As officers attempted to escort Ms. Henderson to a police vehicle, she became increasingly agitated, fearing she would be harmed. She resisted their efforts, sticking her tongue out and making faces at the police and passersby. Police eventually managed to take her to a medical facility for treatment. It is suspected that her erratic behaviour was triggered by a combination of her pre-existing medical condition and an excessive amount of cannabis.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and ensure the well-being of the tourist.

Did she keep smoking?

This sort of reaction should dissipate in a few hours.

Weed sounds like fire, need a strain report I think.

Without knowing the medication it is hard to comment, except to say sometimes mixing 'Medication' with any other drug is not a sensible thing to do.

Yep that's how to protect yourself from ( perceived ) enemies, that want to harm you, stick your tongue out and make faces at them..........................:whistling:   'Och aye, that'll work.

I use 3 or 4 dried cannabis flowers mixed with honey and boiling water to make tea. I let it cool and then drink about 450ml from the fridge.

It seems to ease the pain in my arthritic kneecaps. It works for me, though I have no idea if it would work for anybody else.

No hallucinations since I started it about 2 months ago.

i thought cannabis was good for you? well at least that's what AN members say

Only the deluded potheads.

You don't believe any of the medical information out there that cannabis has medicinal advantages ???

"You don't believe any of the medical information out there that cannabis has medicinal advantages ???"

Did I say that?  I referred to deluded potheads, not those with rational, personal experiences.

I did try CBD oil on a recommendation that it may help to ease some injury pain but, over many weeks of daily use, it was no help at all...and it was expensive so I am not completely anti-cannabis and it's derivatives.  I'm happy that it appeared to work for you.

Fair enough....   I was perhaps over defensive as there is a strong contingency of members on this forum who jump on the 'anti-cannabis bandwagon' each time a thread or report exists with a negative outcome related to cannabis / Marijuana use....

I think those posters argue from a place of extreme bias without fact and just attempt to inflame those supportive of such moderate measures.

I am quite happy that Thailand allows marijuana - I believe it does far more good than bad when used sensibly.....  And the folk who fail to use such 'substances sensibly' are also likely to be those who fail to use other 'substances sensibly'...  i.e. booze and other 'stuff'.

I also find it's good for helping with sleep - but don't want to be taking it every night.....  but a few times a weeks is good.

Yet there are still foolish people in western so-called developped countries,  wanting to legalize these drugs. Much of the problems in Thailand are due to abuse of drinking or drugs. But try to make a drunk or a drug addict understand in the first place that they are addicted.

In the absence of any mention of alcohol, I expect to see the prescription medication getting the blame from all the pot heads!

Perhaps it doesn't mix well with Irn Bru.

I doubt it, probably more to do with the fact she has overdone it on the weed, pretty much what you see multiple times on a nightly basis with alcohol in Pattaya.

There you go, 2 mentions.

Sounds pre-existing issues, weed highlights those. That's why most people become very paranoid too in countries where it is illegal to smoke. Becoming more paranoid, specially from sativa, is a classic. The entire word 'hallucinations' in this article is BS.

So what happened: a retired women that has existing mental issues, including paranoia, decided to smoke a lot of weed to then get the results from that being highlighted. She then locked herself in her room. NOTHING else happened....

The only reason this can be news, is because someone lobbying against it, is pushing for such articles or paying for them to be published.

Instead of police, maybe contacting doctor(s) might have been better. Seems there is a need for some sort of mental health intervention group on call for those who have over done it with wacky tabacky

Neither, it is just a normal result of smoking weed if the person already has paranoia issues. Not believe me? Try smoking when you are. They should have given her some apple juice and a snicker + leave her alone.

I have had countless paranoia modes while being high on weed, when weed was still illegal in TH.
