On October 7, Narongchai reported the matter to Police Lieutenant Colonel Settaphong Meeklom at the Mueang Police Station, seeking help to track down

What does the bank say about the money? Are they not allowed to tell the father?

Attempts to call her have failed; communication has been limited to LINE application chats, where she mentioned she was looking for work, but she avoided calls to prevent revealing her location, reported KhaoSod.

Shouldn't the police be able to trace the mobile phone to which the daughter's LINE account is attached?

I have a migraine from reading this: It's clearly a Thai article (likely AI generated with inputs - nothing wrong with AI BTW) then translated into English with AI = the most unnatural and clunky prose ever seen.

He and his wife decided not to deposit the money in their accounts, fearing they might spend it before buying a 320,000 baht (US$9,660) plot of land to build a house.

Seemingly introspective enough to know that they have no self-control...

Instead, they put the money in their daughter’s account, believing she wouldn’t touch it as she was a well-behaved girl who rarely left home or socialised.

...yet proving that they are morons. Apple 'n tree etc.

Guilable father let his 15 year old daughter date a 35 year old man.

He placed the money in her account therefore the bank are not responsible.

Poor man has lost his inheritance and his daughter.

The daughter may return when the money is spent and the 35 yearold boyfriend moves on.

However, things took a concerning turn when Na, an online seller around 35 years old, befriended their daughter. Na frequently took the girl out for dinner, initially once or twice a week, which Narongchai didn’t mind, thinking it was just an adult showing affection.

I'm not sure whether this is a sign of a kind of sweet innocence, hopeless naivety, or simply not really caring about a child's welfare.  It seems like the kind of thing that someone should probably be suspicious of, but this is Thailand.  Apparently it's not unusual for a minor at school to be dating an adult man.

how well do any parents really know their children? my parents certainly had very little idea about what i was up to as a teenager.😁

Is that because you were delinquent, and didn't tell your parents. I know I didn't tell  my parents everything.

If he was going to buy property why would he put the money in his daughters account?

Anyway, don't worry she will be back when the money runs out.

Yeah,

And guess what?

They won't be buying any land.

The article doesn't say whether Na is male or female, but it's fairly obvious that the girl has been the victim of a romance scammer.

As she is a minor, doesn’t her father have control of her bank account?

He should be able to close her account and retrieve the missing money, or what remains of it.

Not a chance, the account is hers, he has no connection to it, that she is 15 is irrelevant if the account is in her name.
