When you're in a country that doesn't enforce laws much, you need to bend a little and let some things go. I could have taken the knife from her and hurt her, but I just waited until she calmed down, once with her sister getting in the middle. And we have a child together, and I was not going to just leave her like so many others do after having a child here, both locals and foreigners. There isn't anything you could have done besides what I did, besides leave, and let your child be with this kind. She's been abusive to both our child and her second one in my presence. It stopped with ours because I told her not again.It's ongoing with her second every time she lives with her, which isn't much. Did you see what happened with this Brit and Thai? If not, you can't comment who did what. It's best not to start any fights with anyone, because many people underestimate others and pay for it. Self defense is different. Just because this is the only incident I've personally seen doesn't mean I haven't seen any on the news , researched about or heard from others (which I don't fully believe unless there's evidence). It happens daily here, with guns, knives, machetes, sticks and whatever,as the link I provided shows.

I say this as it may prevent a love struck fool stuck in his mommy’s basement from believing everything he sees on Utube or reads about on Thai forums that it’s not always the land of smiles and happy marriages with a sweet, sexy, loving and devoted Thai woman.

You don't have to piss off a disturbed woman to have her attack. The first time I returned early from a place I went to and she gave me the silent treatment. I asked her a few times what was wrong, and after the third time, she threw a glass bowl at me, hitting the ground in front of me and pieces of glass cut my foot. Then she got up and went to the kitchen, got a knife and came towards me. I told her that's not a good idea, and she backed off.

 

The second time, she was sweeping the floor in her mom's house, was very angry at her mom,( a not an occasional thing), and I went over to her and asked her for a hug. She slapped me, then went to the kitchen and got a knife and came at me. This time her sister intervened and told her to stop, and she backed off.

 

The third time we had an argument about me wanting her to speak more English to our daughter, to help her learn faster. She was already in a bad mood over something else (not me) and she got up and again did the same, and again I told her to stop. She also hit me at least 5 other times just because she has a lack of self control and goes to violence because this is what she learned from abusive parents. Also where she learned to be a covert narcissist. Abuse and neglect in childhood. I picked the wrong woman to marry here, and especially to have a child with, and it's the reason I'm still here, until I can re locate back home with my daughter.It's certainly not the LOS for many.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Queen of the Eastern Seaboard around this time last year for a month, the highlight was the breakfast in the Hungry Hippo on Soi Buakhao, I'm surprised there aren't more traffic incidents with the chaos in the evening, especially with 10bt buses.

First of all, that man isn't obese. And many Thais are obese also, along with much of the world's population. This has nothing to do with confrontations. Locals gang up 5 on 1 much of the time, and this is because of cowardice. Foreigners don't do this besides gang members. You might say you see foreigners daily yelling and screaming but I doubt that. I do see locals yelling a lot, especially women, screaming at their children and husbands. Finally, why mention tattoos? I have none, although the rest of my family does, besides my mom and 7 year old. Tattoos have nothing to do with how a person is. Many gang members have tattoos and this is why so many generalize about people with tats.

I'm sure there's quite a few that were white collar criminals here that became rich from same that want Thailand all for themselves, hence the ban, deport, blacklist, jail remarks when someone does something wrong, albeit a minor offense.      I had a accident minor damage to my bike and tuk tuk,never going to win the battle.I know the tuk tuk was as fault but i can do nothing police called i paid up.Nothing i can do and the thais seeing the accident said nothing but knew i did no wrong.If they was a chance i win then i would have tried but i know i was fighting a losing battle and the tuk tuk driver got one over another farang.The bamboo wind was fast too and everyone knew what happened after round town

There's never a reason to be embarrassed by what others do. They aren't you, and the actions of a few don't put all of the same into the same category. Many Brits come here, and some do stupid things. The same goes for Swedes, Americans, Africans, Germans, and every other country that visits. If the punishment fit the crimes, more people would think before they acted. Banning driving for an assault doesn't match. This wasn't about using the taxi in the crime. Some here see someone hit another in a fight, and suggest deporting, not actually seeing the confrontation and what happened. Fining many people teaches them a lesson, unless they are rich and entitled. Intentional harm against another innocent is a reason to deport, because that takes a certain mentality, and will probably happen again. Two people drunk and acting stupid earns a few days in jail and a fine, hoping it teaches them to think the next time.

No witnesses reported that the Brit attacked first, witness did state the exchange was heated and the Thai attacked the Brit. 

The Thai of course lied through his teeth to the police that he was 'defending himself...

Hmmm...  he really needed that metal rod such was the strength and fighting prowess of the powerful british OAP !!!  

 

 

 

has anyone noticed that the Brit has, not only a head injury, but also bloody scratches and possibly what look like a puncture in the skin, on his chest/belly. ? and ... no photos of the Thai being treated at hospital. i think that maybe the Brit make the unfortunate mistake of riding the motor scooter. If it was his wife doing the driving, it is much more likley the accident could have been avoided. Out here in the country side, kids aged 12 and up do speed trials, including driving thorugh the red light.

So two vehicles get in a crash, they pull over, a Thai beats the old Brit man over the head with an illegal weapon, and you want to throw the book at the Brit? The Brit is lucky to have survived a car vs motorcycle crash, now he gets beat over the head for pulling over and exchanging information, and now have his license suspended? Unless you can prove the Brit swung first, there is nothing here but an angry Thai wielding a weapon. In either case, the Thai guy should spend a few years in jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In the heat of the moment, Mr. Arthit, in a display of anger, reportedly grabbed a metal rod, he later claimed in self-defense and struck Mr. Edwards, resulting in the British man’s injuries.

 

The Pattaya Police are investigating the incident, reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to determine if charges will be filed.
