Cataract Surgeon in/near Pattaya Recommended

Featured Replies

I am hoping to get a recommendation(s) for cataract surgery in Pattaya….Thanks!

Some AN members have used Queen Sirikit Hospital

Unless there are special factors in your case, cataract surgery is the single most common eye procedure and any opthalmologist can do it so Pattaya Memorial and Pattaya International Hospital would also be viable options. Waits at Queen Sirikit can be long.

Thanks Sheryl - I was actually hoping you might comment…..as I have seen and benefited from other advice from you on other health topics.

A follow on question please……do you know if some of the newest technology lenses e.g. Clear View 3 or LAL/LAL+ (Light Adjustable Lens) are available in Thailand?  I understand that mono focus lenses are the basic standard but multi focus or extended depth of field lenses look quite interesting……and may be worth the extra cost to me if they are available here?

Thanks again.

Had both eyes  done & lens implants at Bangkok Pattaya  Hospital, very pleased

I dob't know anout those lenses specifically but multifocal lens are available here.  They add substantially to the cost, and not everyone adjusts well to them.

If you want to explore  multifocal lenses, Bangkok Pattaya Hospital would be better choice.

Can you provide the surgeon’s name?  Thanks

Sorry had it done in 2017, I looked online don't think he is still there.

I'd recommend Pattaya International. I saw an opthalmologist there because I thought I was going blind in one eye. In ten seconds he told me my cataract lens had crazed (like me) and needed laser to fix it. I asked when and he said now. 15,000 and 15 minutes later I had perfect eyesight again.

Dr. Sim hai has been doing it for years at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and has a great reputation. I’ve had several friends and family who have used him for super sight and cataract surgery over the last 15 years or so. Good luck.

Although many reports of high prices Bangkok Pattaya have the best cateract surgeon and the price is comparable with other places in Pattaya.

Your eyes are valuable don't 'pennypinch' with your sight.

Dr Bundit at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, multifocal Lens on both eyes, excellent job 5 years ago, 100k/eye

Dr Santa Jomtien Hospital and one other location. Perfect English and reputation.

Sorry, Pattaya unknown but ... recommend looking at Rutnin Eye Hospital (Asoke & Montri), Bangkok. They only do eyes. Wore glasses since 5th grade. 2017 had my natural lens taken out and prescription lens inserted. Now only "reading" glasses.

I apologize for gate crashing.

I had both eyes done 3 yrs ago in a private hospital in Bkk. Surgeon came highly recommended. I was supposed not to need glasses for distance afterwards, nor for reading. I always read with the right & saw distance with the left. This was to remain.

Sadly, I still require glasses  for both sides. I haven't found an optician who has been able to get it right.

A consultant I saw on my last Europe trip commented that the inserted lenses aren't best quality & placement could have been done better. Is it possible to repeat the op with diff. lenses? Present situation for distance makes me feel unstable when outside the house.

Yr opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Dr, Somchai at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital did ming abou 15 years ago and my vision is still almost perfect.

Did you personally get cataract surgery by Dr. Santa?
