Baht to basics: Tourists’ wild rides on Phuket tuk tuks spark online uproar

Ohh STFU "Netizens". If the vehicle was stopped in a traffic jam there is no significant danger. It's amazing how they love tourists' money but don't want everything that comes with it. Guess what- you can't have one without the other.

I’m sure this is very enraging for Thai netizens. 5 teenagers on one motorbike without helmets however….no problem.

As well as all over Thailand, children hanging off of overcrowded baht buses going to school every day. Even sitting on the roof sometimes!

Come on netizens, where is your outrage at putting young children's lives at risk?

Thai netizens and a local news Facebook page criticised foreign tourists for their inappropriate behaviour on baht buses and tuk tuks in Phuket, expressing concerns over the safety of both the tourists themselves and other motorists.

Far more morally tame than what you see at various nightlife spots, and no more dangerous than what you see on the roads all the time.

There needs to be some sort of information pamphlet on planes landing in Thailand, explaining how although the Thais can be wild, reckless and dangerous, you aren't allowed to acknowledge that in Thai culture, so you have to pretend to be safe and conservative outside of particular designated areas.

This can all be very confusing for foreigners, as they often aren't used to the kind of "dual culture" that Thailand has.

Look closer the photo on the left.  Sexually deviant biological males with tattoos who think they are female and wear dresses are in the 49.8%.

I wonder where the parents of these young children are and why are the children not in kindy or school. The Thai authorities should not waste any time and just take all of these idiots straight to the airport.

No ifs and no buts and definitely no bribes , just send them back to their own country.

Why! For having fun, how dare they!!! They are young and they are enjoying life. Maybe you would be happy if all foreigners left Thailand? Thailands economy would crash! These normal youngsters have spent thousands on a holiday many would agree "a holiday of a lifetime" so enjoy.

Getting up off your bum and actually doing something is far different than moaning, groaning and criticizing on social media. For me, that amounts to next to zero, in terms of courage. Being outraged is simply participating in victim culture, and weak PC nonsense, which is degrading society and preformed mostly by weaklings.

Everything sparks debate these days, everything seems to offend the snowflakes, everything seems to cause "netizen outrage".

Who cares, it means nothing, it is less than zero. Outrage is simply a manifestation of weak victim culture.

Well said!

Netizen (noun)

Netizen was originally a scientific term, coined by psychologist Rocco Sifredi from a Greek word meaning "chocolate starfish" and used to describe a person with a genetically determined mental age between 8 and 12 on the Binet scale.

It was also once applied to people with an IQ of 51-70 and was a step up from "imbecile" (IQ of 26-50) and two steps up from "idiot" (IQ of 0-25). The word "netizen", along with "retarded" and "feeble-minded" (among others), was once considered a valid descriptor in the psychological community, especially in the context of voluntary servitude.

With Thailand expected to receive over 40 million vistors this year I suggest the locals have to put up with some bad behaviour and think back to the covid era where economic ruin was all they had to look forward too.

There's a difference between bad behavior and high spirits...

I dont think this crosses the line in an area like Patong.....    this is just people 'di<king about'...

But the real point here.. No one was really bothered, the some karen puts it in the media, which another source 'picks up' and then announces 'netizen outrage'....

And the term netizen, similar to 'citizen' gives the implication that the general population are upset by this behavior, when most just won't care.

.... So, are we outraged at the fake claims of netizen outrage... ?

My AI disagrees with your definition....

Is the above statement true?

False
The statement is entirely inaccurate:
  • Origin: The term "netizen" originated in the 1990s, derived from "Internet citizen," not from a Greek word meaning "chocolate starfish."
  • Rocco Sifredi: There is no notable psychologist by this name associated with coining the term "netizen." Rocco Siffredi is actually an Italian adult film actor.
  • IQ classification: The description of IQ ranges and associated terms (idiot, imbecile, feeble-minded) is based on outdated and discredited classification systems from the early 20th century. These terms are now considered derogatory and unacceptable.
  • Psychological community: The term "netizen" has never been used in the psychological community to describe individuals with intellectual disabilities or specific IQ ranges.
The actual definition of "netizen" refers to an individual actively participating in online communities, particularly on the internet. It emphasizes the person's role as a citizen of the digital world.

The shock of this happening is beyond belief

The difference here is that these men are ugly unlike the "beautiful" local LBs.

Men in dresses is obviously a job reserved for Thais Only.

How about you ?

Personally I have no opinion and don't care. That's why I asked my AI. Let her do all the work. I might have to check out some of Rocco Sifredi's work to form a more informed opinion on this matter.

My AI understands Thai culture because she was trained there...

Sawatdee ka! smiles
Me, Nong. Nong from Bangkok. Me help you, yes?

If Thailand let every idiot enter this country just to boost tourist numbers, Thailand shouldn't be surprised if such cases of misconduct increase.

You might think that Thailand attracts the scum of the world like a magnet.

...maybe Immigration Dept. needs to develop a Behaviour Prediction Scanning System.

Clearly the the best comment from the Thais!

There are entirely far too many idiots coming to Thailand. They think they own the world, just because they can travel to Asia for a vacation. They don´t care about respecting the culture nor the country. They are pure a55h0les! I don´t know why the people of Thailand are concern of their safety and are warning them. I would recommend the baht bus driver to tell all inside to hold on to something and step on the gas. Same would be recommended to do far the car behind. That way, problem solved, and they find their new home where they deserve it. 6 feet under!

This is the stupidest comment of the year. Not surprised about where it came from.

Americans don't do drag like that and when they do, they tend to be older and obese. I was going to suggest Australian, but they are too muscled, so most likely Europeans.
