Weeeell, it seems the UK state pension is a benefit as some MP's are not happy about it, so I just go by what the law is at present...

Instantly, if you go back for a holiday, tell them, you get the increase for the time you are there, but it goes back on departure.

My bank called me today and said that they needed to update my account details, which would take 20 minutes or so and it seems that transam was right to warn us. They asked me if my address and phone number were correct, no problem, but then they started asking me where I was and after I told them I spend the winters in Thailand and Barbados. they then asked me how long I spend in England, to which I replied at least 6 months in Europe, including England.

They then sent me an e-mail and part of the text was as follows

 

What we need you to do

Please send us certified* photocopies of the original documents.

 

We require one item of documentation from the list below to evidence your identity:

• Your passport (a photocopy of your visa is also required to be certified if you are a non-EU national currently visiting the UK and providing documentation to any NatWest branch)
• Your photo card drivers’ licence (if you are a UK/EU national)
• Your EU National Identity Card (if applicable)

 

Please do not send originals. Mobile phone bills and internet access bills will not be accepted.

 

The below options can be used to certify your documentation which should be personally presented to:

• A NatWest branch if you are living in/visiting the UK
• Another bank. The full address of the branch and name of the certifying officer will be required
• A lawyer, notary or accountant (or local equivalent)

During the conversation I asked the lady if I was legally bound to answer their questions to which she answered no, but we may well close your account if you dont.

 

Anyway, I will be telling the DWP about my recent  move to Thailand in the very near future as it looks like the party is well and truly over.

In which country had you previously stated your main/bank address to be?

My D/L is Thai. i think they only want the main page of my passport for identity purpose

The term "OAP" (Old Age Pension) is generally used to refer to the State Pension in the UK. The State Pension is not classified as a benefit in the same way that welfare benefits like Jobseeker's Allowance or Universal Credit are. Instead, it's a contributory pension that individuals receive based on their National Insurance contributions during their working life.  By law you must receive this payment without any adjustment

lol  My house is well in order thank you. There is absolutely nothing DWP can do that effects OAP ,nothing. Stated many many times, in fact look it up  DWP regulations   no stoppages, no payback, no penalties except of course informing  and that will be a freeze on oap.  I refuse a freezing, anyway come back in 10 years or so, please tell how you feel   lol

If they called you in Thailand or Barbados  they would know where you are from the dialing code.

 

If they called you in the UK , wheres the problem ?  Just pop into the bank with a copy of your DL.

I have 8 years to go but will they check my address by phoning me there?

Its been stated time after time, its a contact address that is all, no nothing.  All my contacts are in UK too, good way to go.  They never phone, just one letter a year informing of your pension rise, make sure that letter is not returned, they will send a proof of life if returned, might temporary suspend oap until they know you are alive ,but will refund eventually when u make contact

That same singulat rhetoric. Why are some unprepared to accept that politicians have a vested interest in protecting their mismanagement of the legislation.  Only the ignorant would think that the law has always been right.

Your quote

Despite what the quote may say, there is no statutory amount for the state pension and the Graduated Pension Scheme never had anything to do with National Insurance.
