NYTimes headline today:

Trump’s Cabinet Picks, Panned in Washington, Thrill Many of His Voters

Where Donald Trump’s critics see underqualified nominees with questionable judgment, his voters described them as mavericks recruited to shake up Washington.

Seems that DJT's toughest critics on cabinet picks right now are Republican Senators.

I'm an optimistic guy. Much more so since the election. I said he'd get who he wants through the Seante. I did not say everyone on the current list is who he wants.

How does it not mean that if it's not everyone who [sic] he wants then he didn't get everyone through the senate?

Only 34 of the 100 senate seats were up for election so no they didn't elect 2/3 of them.

So? Those 34 were elected against the will of the electorate?

You know full well there's a house ethics report and that Gaetz resigned the day before it was due to be released. You are being disingenuous and will be ignored.

Then you will know this but have failed to mention it. Best not to call other people disingenuous when it can clearly be argued this is exactly what you've been.

Gaetz, 42, who represented Florida’s District 1 covering part of the Florida Panhandle, was investigated by the FBI on sex-trafficking allegations involving a 17-year-old and was not charged with any crime.

The federal investigation ended last year. Gaetz has said he was the target of an extortion plot.

A House Ethics Committee investigation was launched in April 2021. It was deferred at the request of the Department of Justice and reauthorized in 2023 after the department withdrew that deferral request.

As for the Ethics Committee Report

The report comes years after DOJ dropped its investigation into the same claims on the grounds that the two central witnesses had serious credibility issues. Yet these are the same two central witnesses the House Ethics Committee has relied on for its critical report of Gaetz—the same report it is leaking to compliant reporters as part of a coordinated effort to thwart his nomination as President-elect Donald Trump’s next attorney general.

"I'm going to strongly request that the Ethics Committee not issue the report, because that is not the way we do things in the House," Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, told reporters in the US Capitol.

Gaetz, 42, who denies any wrongdoing, resigned from Congress on Wednesday, bringing the ethics probe to an end two days before the committee had been expected to release the document.

The former congressman faced a nearly three-year Justice Department investigation into sex-trafficking allegations involving a 17-year-old girl. His office said in 2023 he had been told by prosecutors he would not be charged.

Johnson said he planned to urge House Ethics Committee Chairman Michael Guest not to provide the Gaetz report to the Senate Judiciary Committee. "The rules of the House have always been that a former member is beyond the jurisdiction of the Ethics Committee," said Johnson, who returned on Friday morning from meeting Trump at the president-elect's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

"I think it's a terrible breach of protocol and tradition and the spirit of the rule," he added. "I think that would be a terrible precedent to set."

Why would an innocent man resign the day before the report was due for release? Why is speaker Johnston opposed to releasing the report? It wasn't a precedent anyway so he lied.

He does not want the report released?

It does not matter if it's true or not, once the legacy media gets it it's true forever.

He has not been found guilty of any charges. You yourself said accused. He was accused yes and found not guilty of any charge. Tell me this is incorrect. As for resigning he has to to take up the AG position. Excellent timing IMO. This is just more lawfare stemming from the what's written in one of the above articles two dodgy witnesses.

The press will print it as fact without regard for the truth.

That ship has sailed. Gaetz's name is synonymous with kiddly fiddler now. The whole world knows the allegations. Don't you think the FBI needs the report for a background check? Apparently not.

It's best that the report is released so as to exclude the possibility that he is a genuine child rapist. Let's not forget there was a statement and now a witness.

People can make up their own minds. Really? I remember having a severe bout of censorship over the last 4 years where this was definitely not the case.

But that was different.

Not censorship of a house ethics report I'll warrant. A twitter rant maybe? warm?

"Kiddie fiddler" "child rapist". Wow! Some people. I know you're form on here but you really need to start considering your state mind. Apart from your questionable mental state 17 years old can hardly be called a kiddie fiddler, child rapist  now can it and to call someone this who has not been convicted of said crimes is pretty fkd.

What happened to calling Biden a kiddly fiddler? Jeez. And Biden wasn't the subject of an ethics committee investigation and he did have the FBI do a background check.

It's not me saying that. Innocent until proven guilty IMO and even then a person can still be innocent.

Sure they can. IMO, he's guilty as sin. The real argument here is why is the report a secret now?
