Thai Tax Returns for Foreigners
I agree. High net worth individuals will stay less than 180 days in Thailand. Crazy if they didn't. So, you subscribe to the old theory, "the Thai's would never do that because they would lose money." It hasn't exactly gone that way in the past though, has it? The numbers have already been crunched. Most pensioners will have to pay something, albeit, not too much, but they will have a tax liability here. -

Lawyer for Thai/USA will
I am a U.S. citizen living in Thailand, and I have studied this extensively. One cannot make a Will that covers all assets in all countries. The courts in each country will not recognize any part of the Will that discusses assets in a foreign country. So, finding a lawyer to do all that for you would be a difficult task. You need a separate Will for each country in which your assets reside. Fear not. Writing a Will that is legal in the U.S. for assets in the U.S. is so simple, why would you pay for a lawyer unless you needed to draft something like a "Living Trust" which requires a little more work. Google it, Youtube it, and you will find that Wills can be written by hand on a piece of scrap paper if you want. There are an abundance of "Will templates" online. Many are free. As for a Will in Thailand. As mentioned, it can only cover your assets in Thailand. It MUST be written in Thai language, but you can include an English translation, which is a good idea. There are a few requirements for Thai Wills which must be adhered to but nothing difficult (e.g., must identify the executor, etc.). You can pay big money for a lawyer which is what I did the first time, then I learned how easy it was, and did all my revisions myself. And take caution. When I trusted the Thai law firm to write my Will in Thai language, they used low-level admins to write it. Then I went to a second translation service and found many incorrect translations. -

you are mistaken my friend, as to the russians it is not an extreme minority. I have lived with them a lot as well as I lived with the Brits. So your polite remark means nothing. I also follow russian media in Thailand,FB and telegram groups. Every single day, accidents, drunk driving, jumping off the balcony, fighting and drowning. I can continue, as well as I have many russian friends who live here on long-term visas, so I know what I am talking about. But you have no idea at all -

I don't even put the 800k baht in an account here when that 800k earns more money back in my home country than what an agent charges here for the extension. Yet, many retirees here proudly say to me their extension only costs them 1900 baht. They don't factor in the loss on the 800k baht earning less, not to mention, the risk of the money being in Thailand, where foreigners have no rights. -

Some of you are so funny, you've been told about the rule change but because nothing has been said since, you think they may not be serious.......really! I suppose that leaves you with a choice, one of which is to ignore it all and see what happens downstream. If you decide to go that route and it gets messy later, you can't say you didn't know and weren't told.
