December 13, 20241 yr How can I get them back? Many important files in that format. MS really fkd up this time! Can I use "Recovery" GoBack with Win 11? I used it many times with Win 10. Idiots; "WordPad is a word processor software designed by Microsoft that was included in versions of Windows from Windows 95 through Windows 11, version 23H2. Similarly to its predecessor Microsoft Write, it served as a basic word processor, positioned as more advanced than the Notepad text editor by supporting rich text editing, but with a subset of the functionality of Microsoft Word. Microsoft removed WordPad in Windows 11 24H2 and it has no successor."

You can simply restore WordPad and re-associate the file to it.
December 13, 20241 yr Author Could be helpful if you mention at least one, the easiest to use, and how to use it.
December 14, 20241 yr Author I googled and found they say; IF you got "Office 365" .rtf app is included. I do have that. I don't think I ever use it. When I click old .rtf page menu "what to use" shows up but there is non Office 365 listed. How do I get it there?

December 14, 20241 yr Here's a simple guide to putting it back where it was: Necessary files can be found here: https://www.windowslatest.com/2024/06/23/you-can-restore-wordpad-in-windows-11-24h2/ It's not a permanent solution, as Microsoft won't be updating it, but it will give you time to evaluate other options, such a Libre Office.
December 14, 20241 yr Author Thank you! I'll study it and load up and see if I get it working. I'm not good at this.
