I'm new here from America and and almost 70 years old divorced and lonely.. I met this beautiful young girl outside of  a bar very early morning in Pattaya and she seemed really afraid. I really felt sorry for her and she told me her story of such a hard life on the farm, and so after paying the bar owner 5000 baht to get her out of that horrible place, we visited her parents in Udon Thani. We knew were soul mates immediately so after they said they had some land. They  said it would only cost 200,000usd to build a small home. Is this a normal price here for a small home here. Thanks i am so in love. I know many people here have similar wonderful experiences.

USD 200,000 for a house in Udon Thani is a mansion. A small home here should cost about $50,000 to $70,000.

Rule #1 in Thailand is never put more money into here than you can afford to walk away from.

What definition of small are you using? A small cheap Thai house on their land made with eco-block @~ 50 sq m should cost about $6k-$12k USD will be their quote and after the house is built and your bank account is emptied she’ll send you on your way.

Let's face facts. You are 70, so probably only have one or two, maybe five years left on his earth. Riding a young filly might even shorten that time. Is paying US$200,000 to build a home you won't get to live in for too long a good investment?

Don't forget that you will also have pay pay an extremely high sin sod for such a highly prized farm girl, plus a new pickup truck for the family. There might even be further loans required once you are "part of said family."

It might be best you check your finances can afford it before making such a move.

If you build on land "donated" by mama you will be on the wrong end of the Thai horn of plenty, the gift that keeps giving. Mama hocks the land to the moneylender and if you don't want to lose the house you have to pay the loan. Mama rinses and repeats.

Living the dream.

You forgot to mention that you are a troll, but have been accepted by the family nevertheless.

Too bad these amateur troll topics aren't just immediately removed. That would represent a forum upgrade.

The paid professional trolls bring in too many page views, so no hope there.

It's obvious we now have a selection of amateur and professional trolls, with very few genuine posters in between.

save your money and hire a new one every other month - more fun and it will certainly save you a small fortune over time.

Just another BS money pit.

I think you missed the sarcasm intended in my post, but no big deal. The OP is so obviously a troll.

If some Thais can find some foreigner either willing or gullible enough to pay sin sod, they will try it on.

When I was growing up, old men didn't have such a sense of humor.
