Must agree about the South Rd..... had the misfortune to need to head from Buakhao to Suk that way recently. It is being worked on though.

Locals only care about money.

Local government only cares,  about how much money goes in there back pockets.

Oh come on behave.

Evidently Pattaya is doing something right considering how popular it is. Yet it is the butt end of jokes on here endlessly

Too many condos built that overload the subpar infrastructure.... roads may have been adequate 20 years ago, but now... Love those signs in front of construction sites "EIA approved".... just what (supposedly) do they look into regarding "environmental impacte" or is the sign that says "yes we've paid the appropriate officials".... was it 10 years ago or so that the alarm was rung that there was not adequate water for this town? This is at least the third butchering of Jomtien Beach Road and each time they somehow found a way to make worse than before.... a few years back they tried the one way traffic scheme.... did that last a week?

There seems to be not a shred of competence or public service in the death grip rulers of this neck of Thailand

But the best laugh, was the roundabout on second road Jomtien. remember that. :cheesy:, :cheesy::cheesy:

It's good the locals are complaining, since no one else would be listened to. The Russians, Indians , Chinese and the Euro/UK trash are all oblivious to this mess. Yes they have really screwed up Jomtien this time. The only way this area could ever be squared away would be from a special zone  : Naklua, Pattaya, Jomtien to be administered by a select Western group from California, Australia. Because the folks in charge now are lucky if they can tie their shoes every morning

Glad you left the Yanks out of the first initial group of foreigners.

Perhaps Gavin Newsome, Governor of California can come over and supervise a bullet train from Naklua to Na Jomtien.

Pattaya has been getting the same old criticism from the same group of people for 20 years. And yet it keeps growing and getting better.

I broke the World record for the 300 metre journey from Suk to 3rd road - 25 minutes.

Thai record maybe. Once took 3 hours to do 300m in Jakarta.

If the Pattaya burghers think that's a crowded beach, they're lucky they don't live in Spain

As the high season unfolds, Pattaya Beach has become a hotspot for international tourists basking in the sun and enjoying Thailand's vibrant offerings.

However, alongside this seasonal influx, local residents have raised concerns over city infrastructure and management, sparking widespread discussions online about the city's capacity to handle its burgeoning popularity.

Locals are particularly vocal about the city's road conditions, which they describe as anything but smooth. One resident quipped that navigating the roads is akin to traversing the moon's cratered landscape, highlighting the urgent need for roadway repairs.

Attention is especially being drawn to South Pattaya Road, which is reportedly marred by sand and dust, transforming a simple motorbike ride into an undesirable adventure through a desert.

A pattern of drawn-out or simultaneous road projects has driven frustration, with many calling for authorities to finish one endeavour before digging up another, thereby alleviating the perennial traffic chaos that ensues.

The introduction of a one-way system on Jomtien Beach Road, intended to streamline traffic flow, has instead exacerbated congestion, demonstrating a potential misstep in urban planning.

Another critical point of contention lies with the state of Pattaya's beaches. Despite their status as world-famous locations, residents feel their visual appeal is compromised by an overabundance of boats, leading some to compare the scene to a bustling harbour, rather than a serene seascape.

Calls for improved cleanliness and environmental measures reflect a desire to safeguard the natural beauty that draws countless visitors each year.

Amidst these complaints, it's clear that the city is teeming with foreign visitors, with beaches packed from sunrise to the stunning sunsets that Pattaya is known for.

The seasonal boom is invigorating the local economy, as money flows freely with the influx of tourists. This, in turn, places a spotlight on the city's need to balance economic benefits with sustainable urban development.

As residents voice frustrations, much of their critique lands on the desk of city officials, particularly the mayor, whom many believe should take robust action to address these growing pains.

Urgent calls for improved traffic management, better road maintenance, and environmental stewardship underscore a community's desire to elevate Pattaya's status as a premier global tourist destination, not just a temporary hotspot.

As Pattaya enjoys its peak season, the juxtaposition of economic vibrancy and logistical challenges presents an opportunity for city management to implement thoughtful solutions, ensuring this vibrant locale remains attractive to both visitors and residents alike, reported Pattaya Mail.

They take the revenue with open arms but do they put anything back-in or just let the locals do all the work?

While breaking the record were you adding to the problem?

There's no money in building new roads.

Or beach front stabilisation.

The real money is in doing a s*ht job and the continuing maintenance year after year.

Plus the infamous envelopes.

There’s no money in maintenance, that’s why so little is done. The money is in ripping out something that is poorly maintained and starting from scratch.

There has never been any strategic planning from city hall, it's a bunch of Muppets who have a idea and everyone nods, oh what a good Idea and then the chaos ensues.

If it's not the roads, it's the drainage, sewers, cables etc etc

Pattaya must collect billions in tax. It shouldn't be so difficult to remove the holes in the streets and clean up the place.

But I guess the people in charge prefer to buy a couple of more houses and cars for themselves instead.
