Brit answer to Fargo?

More like Coronation Street than Fargo   IMHO

Ballard of a small player

Amid the glittering casinos of Macau, a gambler running from his past — and his debts — becomes fascinated by an enigmatic woman at the baccarat table.

Very good movie with an interesting ending

I watched "Ballad of a Small Player" Last night and I enjoyed it. Not exactly a record-breaking stunner, but interesting enough and different from the recent offerings around the place. Thanks for the tip.

I finished season 5 of Slow Horses last night and I enjoyed it. I've read comments from people in this topic who don't feel the same and I will concede that the earlier seasons were better IMHO. For my part, it "stars" Gary Oldman (long time favourite of mine), therefore it HAS to be watched.

Thanks for the heads-up @BenCrew. Looks interesting. I'll have a look at that.

These two Anthony Hopkins movies are worth a re-watch, The Father rated 8.2, I avoided watching it for a while but was excellent

Decided to watch the Peter Sellers movie, "Being There" again last night and enjoyed it this time round but not so much as the first time!!

The ending was still as puzzling though!

I have just finished watching a wonderful movie (again) called "Spotlight", starring Michael Keaton and Mark Ruffalo amongst others and it still has not lost its appeal as regards being great detective work by reporters and shameful cover-ups by the church.

In fact now whenever I see scenes of people congregated in a church or those milling around the Pope in Rome, I cannot help but think that a fair percentage of these priests and "holy folk" are paedophiles and I find it absolutely disgusting that the church is still full of such folk, and by that I mean many churches.

It is a movie which should be shown time and time again to remind people that the church is not what it portrays itself to be.

When watching this movieIt it brings to mind a joke that I was told a while ago, and the joke was, "at the age of 12 I was blessed with a 9 inch penis, unfortunately it belonged to Father Patrick" – – so sad  but many a true word spoken in jest.

I was looking forward to the new movie The Smashing Machine but after watching it last night I was disappointed. I think the current IMDB rating of 6.6 may be a little bit high.

Last night I watched the movie 'Where the Crawdads Sing'. Watched it on All4 via Firestick. It seems to be only available for further 3 weeks. It was a fantastic movie.

Set in the Deep South of America in the late 1960's. A late teens feral girl is accused of murder. She was living and fending for herself in the marshlands.

7.2 rating IMDb. Well worth a watch in my opinion.

Loved the book as well.

I had been meaning to watch the 1996 movie Fargo for YEARS and finally got around to it yesterday. An absolute gem of a movie. Absolute stellar cast but the standouts for me were Frances McDormand, Steve Buscemi (always great) and William H Macy.

It is very, very rare that I wish a movie was a little longer (normally the opposite) but I would happily have watched an additional 15-30 minutes of this.

Has anyone watched the Netflix series of the same name? Worth a watch?

If you haven't watched the Fargo series yet, you are in for a treat. It is a "must watch" series.

The first half was decent, but it went downhill after Keanu Reeves appeared.

Thanks for the "heads up" @Keeps and I have just watched it and thought it was very good and I enjoyed it  As for coming to the conclusion that Kaya killed Chase......I'd prefer not to think about it as I want to believe that she was innocent!!!!

The Fargo series on Netflix is quite good. The quality declines a bit as the seasons progress though. I don't think I even watched the last one.

Was reluctantly taken to watch the new Predator movies - something i have no interest in.

But blimey this was actually very good. Not just an action movie, but had some emtional heart to it.

The one with the native girl ? It was pretty good. Her brother was awesome. Outshined her a little as the lead.

Movie. The man from earth.

No special effects. No big budget. A handful of people in a house setting.

Great script and very though provoking.
