Furniture/Personal Possessions/Container From UK
We moved from US to CM in late 2020 and shipped a 20' container of household goods. We had two bedroom sets each with 4 pieces and there was absolutely no problem through customs. The custom regulations that I read did limit things like TV's and other electronics to one for a single person or two per family. We used International Sea & Air Shipping to organize the container packing, transport to closest sea port, container rental, container space on ship, customs clearance and final delivery to rental home in CM. We did have several conversations with the Thai customs agent. I was somewhat skeptical after talking to them about some details. In the end we paid duty on only a few items that were not considered "household" goods. An aluminium ladder, 1 of 2 bicycles(?) and a tool box full of general tools like wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, etc. I think our customs bill was 1200 ฿. Our inventory was not that detailed but was acceptable. The customs broker was Boonma with offices in CM and Bangkok and probably Lam Chabang as well. DM me if you need more details/advice. -

Has Elon Musk become an existential threat to humanity?
I saw an interview with him (I don't remember from how long ago) that his intention is free speech, to allow all speech which is legal and only delete what is illegal. In a way I understand this. Twitter was as some stage very much left. And as Musk said, from that perspective any change is a change to the right. The bigger problem with him, with X and with people like Trump is that too many people listen to them and think they are the smart guys, and they must all know the truth and tell us the truth. Musk owning X and writing constantly whatever enters his mind would be no problem if not millions of people would read it like the gospel. Elon Musk said it, so it must be true. Really? If I would want to know something about electric cars, then I would listen what he has to say, and I would also listen to other specialists. If I want to know about UK grooming gangs, then certainly I would not rely on Musk or whatever Nigel Farange or Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon told him. And with many other subjects it the same. It's like Hollywood stars talking about politics. Just shut up about things which you don't know anything about. -

Talking to Thais, have you ever had "Pow Wow" moments?
I suppose he wasn’t really thinking anything at all. He was merely trying to get his point across but lacked the vocabulary to do so, thus he likely recalled a vague association between the word ‘pow-wow’ and American Indians, though he had no clear understanding of its meaning. Then, on impulse, he made a clumsy hand gesture to his mouth that could have been mistaken for a crude mimicry of a homosexual sex act. Then the Thai man smiled, mainly out of embarrassment, and all the while eagerly anticipating the end of the haircut. -

The Troubling Decline of DEI: A Step Backward for America
And in my experience they are also better at ironing shirts, but not much use at changing a punctured tyre. -

The Troubling Decline of DEI: A Step Backward for America
You're joking right? It's not who she knew, but who she blew. Biden had to have a black woman leftist. Harris just edged out Karen Bass, how funny is that?- 1

Talking to Thais, have you ever had "Pow Wow" moments?
"India Daeng" is the word I was also taught by adult Thai friends many decades ago. Since I never studied Thai formally, all of my Thai vocabulary was acquired through conversations with Thais and I've never heard any other word in conversation used by Thais to reference American Indians. Also, Thai dictionary references will reflect "Indian Daeng", but I've always only ever heard it pronounced by Thais without the N on Indian. Mainly I assume because "Indian" (with the N) would be too difficult for them to pronounce. In addition, when they refer to Indians from India, they call them "Khon India" in Thai, again, leaving off the letter N at the end. Anyway, I don't think we need to continue to go on about this as this whole debate on the use of correct Thai vocabulary on this topic has seemingly been put to rest now.
