This is clearly one of the darkest times most perilous times in American history.

Why?  Nothing but good things are happening!  Do you support racist DEI policies or the endangerment of women and girls?  Or do you hate women's sports?

I can't think why any decent rational person would see anything bad in what is happening now, unless completely blinded by personal ideology.

IF a big IF Trump does manage to end that war in a way where Ukraine is secure to be a sovereign nation with IRONCLAD security guarantees, then I will give him credit for that. I doubt he can pull that off though. I think he's more likely at the end of the day to try to push Ukraine into a crap deal so he can take credit for BS that will be a setup for Russia to invade after they've rebuilt their army at a later date.

Your rote, trite, repetitive, nonsensical, uniformed, hate ridden, anti-american, pessimistic propagandistic lies have been rejected by the American people, and are so predictable here as to be a 3-2-1 countdown in every topic.

Trump won by only a 1.4 percent margin.

One of the narrowest margins in the last 100 years.

Most of his voters probably voted for him to lower egg prices, which they won't get.

Most want Trump Lite.

They're getting Trump INSANE.

No, sorry but you’re wrong. He won by 27.8%. Harris got 226, and Trump got 313 of the electoral. That is what counts.

That's how the winner is determined by law.

But get a grip, dude.

If you win a state by 1 vote you win all the electoral votes in the state.

The popular vote is a much better reflection of how the entire population actually feels.

If you deny that, you're being disingenuous.

Get a grip buddy, the United States is not a mob rule democracy, it’s a constitutional republic. I’m terribly sorry it pains you that Trump won the popular vote by 1.4%.

Just pointing out that his win was clear and decisive but not a landslide as many of his fans and he has incorrectly claimed.

Plus only 29% of those entitled to vote, voted for their daddy.

That's a can of worms.

I wonder what the vote would be if the U.S. had the Australian system.

Any rational person can see inequity is so deeply entrenched in America that three individuals there have more money than the bottom 150 million Americans. Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg.

The USA is now an oligarchy. If you think Trump is going address said inequity, you're a fool. Who do you think helped him into power?

When I was 20 yo, I could see a way forward in terms of getting a good education, a good job, and building a financial base. I paid off my first house mortgage in 18 months, paid cash for every home thereafter.

What do 20 year olds have to look forward to now? Crushing student debt, a house mortgage they will still be paying off in retirement, and jobs where the tax burden they shoulder is far more than tax-dodging multi-nationals.

IIRC Trump paid $750 in tax in 2017 and 2018. A janitor at one of his properties probably paid more.

Capitalism is failing as the gulf of inequity widens.

I will respond to this by citing a foreign example. Doesn't even need to be about Hitler.

Let's look at today's Russia.

Let's consider Putin's policy to erase Ukraine.

Consider a Russian national that opposes that policy and does NOT want Putin to succeed in that.

Ipso facto ...

“Every red-blooded Russian should want your president to succeed, whether you vote for him or not, whether the same party or not, whether you like him or not.”

Should they really?

Or is it actually much more patriotic to oppose obviously wrong actions of our leaders?

Capitalism like any other economic system needs to be governed by a set of laws.  Laws that do not allow one group of citizens to control another group.  As it is now, those with the most money are able to pass or amend laws that benefit only them.  This is done through various forms of unethical and corrupt practices.  History has shown when inequality reaches an intolerable level there is anarchy and revolt.  The big question for the U.S. is when will we reach this point.

For better or worse Trump is now the man for 4 years  ,,

and looking back at history  USA has been here before ,, they have had incompetent , corrupt  and bad presidents in the past , usa has also been controlled by Oligarchs  in the past  , they had Prohibition,  famines ,  and many huge disasters  but the USA has endured and recovered and been through  many cycles... And maybe Donald  might do a bit of good ,,   as well as some silly things

There's no doubt in my mind that Trump will do some good.  The previous administration realized too late, after major damage had been done, that "open borders" was a disaster.  Trump is already tackling this problem.  The damage will take years to repair.  Things like renaming the Gulf of Mexico and Denali are probably among some of the silly things you referred to.

Let's hope for the best.

Great heading - not sure which alternative universe the poster is in, but certainly not the one I am currently in.

Yeah, sure! Clearly Putin has been listening to that as the world has already supported Ukraine with billions. But, it will be fun to see if Trump is as stupid as you post. If that backfires on him, then he will break more promises of not supporting Ukraine as well as exiting NATO and the promise of stopping the war. In that case he will escalate it instead.

The only thing this guy can do, is talk a lot of garbage. Therefore, it was a very fitting image before the election. He should had taken up that work instead.

Well you arent an American so your views of Miller and MAGA and Trump are uneducated, simplistic Socialist propagandistic opinions.

By the way, do know the names of the Supreme Court cases on the issue and what they hold?  Does jus soli exist in America?

Unfortunately MAGA is covered in Australia's only national paper in depth every day as it's owned by Murdoch. Yes to both questions, except one parent must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. I assume you're fully conversant with paleo conservatism the core ideology of MAGA world though i would guess the vast majority of MAGA are not.

EDIT:

In Australia, a child born within the country does not automatically gain citizenship by birth if neither parent is a permanent resident or citizen; to acquire citizenship in this situation, the child must be "ordinarily resident" in Australia for the first 10 years of their life, meaning they must live primarily in Australia throughout that period.

Isn't it amazing how happy and positive everything seems since Trump was sworn in?

Well, it is amazing, in a way.

Trump's Inaugural Approval Rating Is Historically Low Again

Americans divided over whether Trump's pace in addressing major U.S. problems is about right or too fast

At 47%, President Donald Trump's initial job approval rating for his second term is similar to the inaugural 45% reading during his first term, again placing him below all other elected presidents dating back to 1953. Trump remains the only elected president with sub-50% initial approval ratings, and his latest disapproval rating (48%) is three percentage points higher than in 2017, marking a new high for inaugural ratings.

Who cares about approval ratings? These are people who are angry that Trump is removing rapists and murders from the country. Their opinion counts for little, and they're probably lying or believing lies.  🤷‍♂️

Thank your for your unsupported and irrelevant assertions.

Maybe you should read what the person who launched this topic wrote

"The news is very positive, everyone is standing to applaud everything Trump says, people are standing up and fighting back against woke fascism.

Does anyone else feel like it's just a really positive time right now?  Like we're emerging from some sort of dark time in history?"

Oh...wait a minute. That person was you? Or did someone hack into your account?
