Best way to transport big-heavy-ish stuff between provinces

Featured Replies

Hello

I need to ship ~60kg of clothing back home to the family in Isaan. We're in central Thailand.

What is the best way to do this?

- Cost

- Complexity

- Doable from home (pickup, etc)

Any tips, experiences, etc would be warmly welcome

Cheers

Those 'big orange ones' driven by company drivers, they have done similar before!

Kerry Express, plus a host of other delivery companies

Where are you?  Or where are you delivering to? Maybe I have a number.

My wife gets bales of clothing from the Cambodian border, there are haulage services in most cities, you just need to know where to look.

It’s small change, i think she pays 150B, way cheaper than any other courier or post office, you wouldn’t want to send anything delicate, but clothes it’s fine. Usually it gets delivered to the house by pickup, the guys are good at moving the bales, I would say they weigh 30-40kg. Other times big lorries deliver manned by a couple of migrant workers, sometimes the sender messes up and we have had to go pickup from a depot or side of the road.

Let Mr Google be your friend !

Mule ,can carry much Takes time but gets there in the end also no Damage

Yeah there's probably a few things in there that we wouldn't want to get lost or thrown around.

But interesting idea nonetheless!

I have used the PO, I wanted to send 50 kg of sesame seed to Issan, PO said max weight was 25kg, so I just put it in 2, 25 kg sacks, got they in 3 days.

You will have to break it down into 3 boxes, or whatever, as has been said, not expensive.

Kerry are the same, max wight 25kg.

I moved my whole condo contents from pattaya to phuket using kerry's biggest available boxes. It's quite easy. They come and pick them up from you. The hardest part was needing to go to a few different 7/11s to gather the boxes as they were either low in stock or all out.

Used them many times to move stuff.

Check the bus routes. Put it on at departure. Pick it up at destination.

This is the best, serious, solution.

Pack in cardboard cartons.

Tape up well, and bind well with twine.

Then, take to bus depot and place in the lower luggage compartment, after buying ticket for someone who wishes a free trip.

Or, just pay the bus company to haul the boxes to the correct destination.

Very cheap.

No loss.

No damage.

Went with Lalamove. Expensive, but they took it there same day. Door to door without having to do anything.

Call or visit a local bigger Thai post office. They do this sort of move regularly. I doubt 60 kg would frighten them, and they usually offer good advice about packaging / they help with packaging, their pick up is prompt and not expensive. Usually delivered to destination anywhere in LOS within 48 / 72 hrs. They keep in contact

My Thai son used Thai Post to send his big bike from Chiang Mai to Pattaya and then return 3 months later. No damage whatever, PO staff kept in contact all the time, deliver at both locations about 36 hrs after pick up, both ways the bike was well wrapped. Son was impressed.
