British tourists flying to Spain face big 2025 change

Featured Replies

British tourists flying to Spain face big 2025 change and must provide four pieces of 'evidence' to get in

While the revised date has not yet been confirmed, it is expected to occur in 2025. Until then, tourists will still need to have their passports stamped upon arrival and departure.

The Spanish government has specific entry conditions for travellers from outside the EU, including the UK. This includes being able to provide 'evidence' of meeting entry requirements when asked by border control officials.

Besides a valid passport, the Foreign Office advises that visitors may be asked to show a return or onward ticket, proof of their travel insurance, a hotel booking confirmation or invitation if staying with friends or family, and evidence that you have sufficient funds for your stay, reports the Manchester Evening News.

British tourists spent nearly 20Billion Euros in Spain in 2023.

You would think the Spanish might not want to put obstacles in their way.

In 2023, 17.8 million British people visited Spain, making it the most popular destination for UK residents. This was a 21% share of all visits abroad by UK residents.

Explanation
  • In 2023, the UK spent €19.9 billion in Spain, which was 18.4% of the total spent by tourists in the country.
  •
  • The average British visitor spent €1,151 per day and stayed for 6.9 nights.
  •
  • The number of British visitors to Spain in 2023 was slightly lower than in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
  •
  • The Spanish Tourist Office expects 18.8 million UK visitors in 2024, which is a 5% increase from 2019.

Spain might be attractive again.

And we are still loathed the most.

I have spoken to French people said they will never go back because the way some Brits behave there.
So while we spend 18% of the total we are scaring off others.

Don't blame others for self inflicted wound.

YOU voted to get out of EU. Suck it up...

There are way too many Chavs in Spain who think they own the place ... they have ruined it for the best behaving Brits.

Kudos to the Spanish govt for efforts to keep the windows clean and the floor swept.
