A car race on the Bangkok-Chonburi motorway ended in chaos as twelve vehicles were involved in a massive pile-up.

The crash occurred around 3:30 AM when modified cars, racing at high speeds, collided on the motorway. Thankfully, despite the scale of the accident, injuries were minor.

According to Ronnachai Jaipet, a rescue worker from Sawang Prateep Sriracha, the crash took place near kilometre marker 91+800 in Sriracha, Chonburi.

Emergency services arrived promptly, using hydraulic tools to rescue a man trapped in his car, who was then taken to hospital.

The cars, reportedly heading towards Bangkok from Pattaya, started racing along the motorway before the incident. Authorities from the Highway Police are investigating, having documented the scene and intending to summon and question those involved, reported Amarin TV

We used to live in a condo that was adjacent to the motorway running through Ploen Chit in Bangkok. Every Saturday night between 1-3am there would be car racers zooming by, cutting in and out of taxis, fuel tankers and other drivers, making a terrible noise.  Nobody except me, and certainly not the authorities, seemed bothered!

Hmmmm.... I was told no roll racing was planned for this morning.

A bit of friendly rivalry gone wrong...

So with all that damage to those cars that were racing, all these fools are all off the roads for a good while

These are people that have too much money………..instead of doing something good for the country, they spend it on Super Cars

I don't see any supercars in the images.

What I see is your average car that most likely has been tuned.

You have never been young and enjoyed having fun with a fast car? I definitely have been in that category, but maybe you were just born as a sad person.

If its the same crash.... I watched this with my Son on TikTok... a regular driver with a dash cam had captured all these cars passing at speed driving incredibly close together...

Utter idiots - the stupidity was clear to see....

Though I'm sure 'someone' will be along to suggest using the term stupidity does not explain the reason they crashed, it has more to do with road engineering etc and other factors we do not understand... blaming ineffective policing here and poor attitudes towards road safety is racist etc...

...  5000 word copy and past from a dated text-book will surely then follow as we are all told we do not know what we are talking about....

... But we do... these guys are idiots and kill each other an innocent victims....  the police do nothing.

Luckily they didn't kill anyone this time.

---------

I've just been driving in treacherous conditions overseas....  (worst conditions I've seen for a long time)... I didn't see one driver do anything daft or stupid....

... We were fortunate to have an excellent and safe driver for the time it took to get from the Airport to home, but in that time I saw numerous manoeuvres which I'd classify as outwardly reckless, to stupid, to idiotic, dumb, to ignorantly and naively dangerous...

(i.e. I saw more silly, stupid and dumb road use in 30mins here than I did in two weeks in another well developed nation).

I’ve seen what are known as ‘Big Bikes’, but usually they are just small motorcycles.

I did enjoy Car Racing...

I attended the Winfield School in Magny-Cours (France) and did some races in Formula Renault and then Formula 3 championships... BUT NOT on the public roads...

'Authorities from the Highway Police' - I regularly travel this road.  I witness maybe 50 traffic offences an hour.  I hardly ever witness any Highway Police.
