There's growing enthusiasm for the Trump adminstration to audit the Fort Knox Gold Reserves. It seems likely to happen, and probably should.

 

If it goes ahead there are 3 possible outcomes; 1. The Gold is all there at 999 fineness. 2. The Gold is low quality (995 fineness or less) - maybe even fake gold plated tungsten. 3. There is NO gold (it having been sold off years ago).

 

In scenarios 2 & 3 there will be panic in world currency markets, especially in scenario 3. 

If the Dollar is revealed to have had zero backing (yes, the USD Gold Standard was dropped, but not the Gold Reserves backing) it's value will plunge. All of you Yanks living in Thailand on USD will see your USD wealth obliterated instantly. Thanks to Trump.

 

My gut feeling is the Gold is NOT in Fort Knox, or is fake/low qual. So if the audit goes ahead - hang onto your hats. Get ready to flee Thailand.

There's alot of truth in what you say - that said I firmly believe that China is fundamentally a mercantalist nation not an imperial one and we should work with that not knee jerk oppose it.

The trouble is that mercantilism fuels colonialism. Or at least that is what happened with European powers in the 19th century, where they fought to control raw materials in particular to manufacture finished products for export back to the colonies and elsewhere. That is precisely what Trump's old trade deal and this supposed new one seek to do, export things like American grain and meat, while receiving finished goods in return. And of course China never even lived up to this agreement originally. This will make the US a colony of China.

Like Asia don't bet against the Chinese - they effectively run many of the nations anyway and for the most part do it well.

Hello there!  His country is under daily attack by a murderous regime. Some of his population is scattered throughout Europe and beyond. Men of military age are spread throughout the front line.

Now, if Russia withdrew from all of Ukraine's sovereign territory, paid up for reparations to all the buildings they destroyed, sent their convict soldiers home, repatriated the North Korean soldiers, then just maybe Ukraine would be able to have elections.

X is being flooded with MAGA/Russian disinfo at the moment. All amplified by Musk and his cohorts. It is in some respects quite astonishing. Truly a fall on empire.
